I just hope the GOP doesn't put a black or mex up to oppose the next Dem candidate.

Well, yeah, but they tried to recall Any-Twosome Newsom in 2021 and surprise, surprise, tons of mail-in ballots were disqualified - mismatched signatures, etc. - totally unlike the anything-goes 2020 election - and Newsom stayed in office. LA Times story which doesn't get into that, of course. All it has is a paragraph at the end noting that the choice of a date for the election had been criticized by some.
