bIDEN pardons/releases 2500 drug criminals onto our streets
“(zh) president [sic] Joe Biden said on jan. 17 that he is commuting the sentences of nearly 2,500 individuals, marking the largest single-day act of clemency in modern history.
“the latest pardons are being granted to people who were convicted of non-violent drug offenses and who are serving ‘disproportionately long’ sentences compared to those they would receive today under current law, policy, and practice, Biden said in a statement published by the white house.
“as Katabella Roberts reports for the epoch times, Biden pointed to two pieces of legislation: the fair sentencing act of 2010, which reduced the disparity [sic] in sentences for crack cocaine and powder cocaine offenses from a weight ratio of 100 to 1 to 18 to 1, and the first step act of 2018, aimed at reducing the size of the federal prison population while promoting rehabilitation.
[GRA: It was wrong to dilute the law to let more dealers and users stay on the street. Both groups get others to use, become addicted, and kill themselves by overdose. Dealers need to be put in prison for 20 years minimum—they are killers.

“the previous weight ratio of 100 to 1 meant that 5 grams of crack cocaine, for example, was treated as equivalent to 500 grams of powder cocaine for sentencing purposes.
“‘today’s clemency action provides relief for individuals who received lengthy sentences based on discredited [liar!] distinctions between crack and powder cocaine, as well as outdated sentencing enhancements for drug crimes,’ Biden said.
“‘as Congress recognized through the fair sentencing act and the first step act, it is time that we equalize these sentencing disparities [sic],’ Biden said.
“with this latest action, Biden has now issued more individual pardons and commutations than any president in U.S. history.”

Fauci, the longtime government scientist; and all the members of the bipartisan House committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, including former Representative Liz Cheney, a Republican from Wyoming.
“I believe in the rule of law, and I am optimistic that the strength of our legal institutions will ultimately prevail over politics,” Mr. Biden said in a statement. “But these are exceptional circumstances, and I cannot in good conscience do nothing. Baseless and politically motivated investigations wreak havoc on the lives, safety and financial security of targeted individuals and their families.
“Even when individuals have done nothing wrong — and in fact have done the right thing — and will ultimately be exonerated, the mere fact of being investigated or prosecuted can irreparably damage reputations and finances,” he added.
