The judges even split on saving animals!

Not the first time tyrannical government showed what its values are. In oregon, a family rescued a fawn and raised it. The children loved that deer but government bureuRats descended on the home and shot the deer in front of the children who loved it. If you have an animal which you love, keep quiet about it--don't put it on the internet--the evil ones will come and kill it.

If I had any hair left, I'd tear it out, seeing this dumb story posted all over the internet. A "social media star"-small wonder we have the presidential candidates we've been handed this year.

For some reason, I'm reminded of an anecdote in a recent issue of classic images magazine, about an encounter with a woman in her 20s who never heard of Cary Grant or Sophia Loren...

From "a murdered deer,"to Cary Grant and Sophia Loren,in one paragraph. Almost impossible to do--I would have bet against that type of acrobatic writing being pulled off--and I would have lost.

Never mind,I see those were two separate postings.

It is not just about saving animals--it is about the government's intrusion into every aspect of life--right down to regulating how many pounds of pressure is needed on the handle to flush your toilet (5 pounds--I used to work in architecture). But scientists are finding that consciousness or self awareness extends down to lower animals than you might think. Brain images found that a dog staring into the owner's eyes experienced the same brain chemicals released into the same part of the brain as the owner--in other words both the dog and the owner loved each other--except the dog probably loved more. I have no doubt that the owner of this squirrel dearly loved the animal--and probably the squirrel loved him back. But power-hungry small-minded bureaucrats had to prove their power by raiding their home as if it were a drug dealer's and killing the beloved animals. Anyone who thinks this kind of mindless government intrusion isn't a symptom of what is wrong in this country understands nothing.

It's not about "mindless government intrusion"- which none of us support- but about a society so dumbed-down that millions of people are watching videos of a guy and his pet squirrel on "social media", and that this incident is being treated like a major news item.

And I live in a rural area and have some realistic experience of wild animals- including squirrels- and it's NOT Disney World. Furthermore, anyone who lets their children play with deer is exposing them to Lyme disease, which is also something I've learned quite a lot about since moving here. (Tom Seaver died from it, and the late Kris Kristofferson suffered from it for many years.)

(OK, say it-"Sheesh, what a grouch!")

I have "realistic experience" with wild animals and am still here decades later. I spent much of my childhood searching for snakes, lizards, turtles, frogs, etc. Later I befriended wild raccoons in several states--one raccoon would come when I called her and I fed her on my lap and petted her. When she had babies she brought them and the climbed all over me while she ate. Sometimes I let them in the house and took them for a tour. One night I counted three families of raccoons for a total of 27. I also got in a chicken pen with a wild raccoon and in a few minutes he was licking molasses from my fingers. I knew a wild squirrel who would come when I called her or sometimes would be waiting for me in the morning when I opened the front door. I think in the past people weren't so scared of animals. Bill O'Reilly talked about it being so hot in the house where he lived as a child--but he was afraid to sleep outside because there were raccoons out there. Well I have slept outside and never had a problem. No, I never watched or heard of the videos of the guy and his squirrel and raccoon--but I would rather watch that than Hollywood actors. Being afraid of nature means missing out on some of the most beautiful things in life.

Russia fines google a zillion, gazillion, bazillion, infinitillion rubles for censoring their propaganda:

https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/31/tech/google-fines-russia/index.html

Oh the irony of Russia and it's state controlled media to get it's panties in a bunch over somebody censoring them.

Not that I don't understand the anger and frustration over google's censoring of anything that doesn't align with their woke ideology but people like me aren't censoring anybody and sure as heck aren't able to slap crazy fines on a giant corporate entity to get their attention.

Still, to add more to the irony factor, I'd be willing to bet there's more truth and actual fact in that russki propaganda than the vast amounts of woke slop that google allows through it's portals on a daily basis.

As usual, there's more to the story (NOW it becomes interesting):

"Mark believes someone who had an issue with him shooting porn with his wife [he promotes himself on Onlyfans!], and separately babysitting some of their neighbor's kids, complained about him to authorities ... leading to last week's raid." And he looks like an absolute lowlife: on steroids and covered with tattoos, ugly as Hell, hat on backwards... And supposedly showing off his, er, endowment in a video which I skipped over, thank you very much. And he was harboring wild animals illegally for NINE YEARS, including raccoons- like the squirrel, a prime vector for rabies.

The animal lovers- who are beyond reason anyway- lose on this issue.
