Should you tip a restaurant counter clerk?

Re-posted by N.S.

No way! The notion that I should pay you a tip, simply 4 handing me my order at t counter, is perverse. A tip is for good table service, which also includes bringing water, & cleaning up after me. (I worked 4 years in restaurants, doing everything frm washing dishes 2 managing.)

In some places,a tip at pickup, prevents the addition of bodily fluids being placed in your next order. They remember if you tip or not and SOME nutjobs might take it personally.

Also getting sick of the begging and the pressure to "please fill out the survey", like that self-selected statistical sample is a valid way to evaluate an employee. That's the version of the tip jar for phone bank employees.

It's always presented in the most phony-sounding Corporate-mandated scripted language because mentioning the survey is part of the employee evaluation.

Even CPAs answering the phone for do-it-yourself tax prep services are under great pressure to increase their survey response rate. It's not just the minimum-wage operators.

It's pathetic. It's unseemly. It's annoying. Memo to corporate America: CUT IT OUT!

No fast food place without a waitress or waiter not one cent. Recall too at take-out McDonald's 80 % of orders wrong in some manner.
