Elon Musk now considers “cis” to be a slur on twitter:
https://thehill.com/homenews/4061600-musk-says-cis-cisgender-considered-slurs-on-twitter/
This is after twitter rolled back a policy that banned “targeted misgendering or deadnaming of transgender individuals.”
Ok, Elon does something positive, then turns around and does something contradictory. What on earth could be wrong with somebody declaring they are “comfortable in skin”? How does that get defined as a “slur”? Is the thinking: If you call yourself “cis” as an affirmation of your heterosexuality or (White?) race, then you are putting down non-hetero or non-Whites? If black people used it, there’s no way Musk would ban the term, then it would be praised as self-affirming and positive. What’s crazy is that it’s not actually a term specific to sexuality or race, anybody could use it but it seems to be near exclusively used by White hetero people, so therefore “it’s a slur.” What will they come up with next to silence confident, secure, hetero White people? So much for Elon Musk’s free speech absolutism.

Maybe Musk will be the only White man on the tribunal, which will decide how Whitey should behave in certain situations, that only blacks and queers can arbitrate.
Example:A 75 year old White man and his 71 year old wife are on the subway, but two 17 year old blacks hop aboard and want their seats. What should happen?
WE here at NSU would say,"the White couple should stay put,"but the tribunal, made up of one powerless White, six blacks and two fags, including Whoopie Goldberg and Jussie Smollett, take a vote. The majority would then write up an order for the septuagenarians to vacate their seats. It would be sent electronically to the subway employees in charge, after which "instant social justice" would be enforced.
As I wrote about Michigan passing a bill that would criminalize calling someone a pronoun other than their preferred gender(a hate crime felony),the commies now want to legislate and enforce how people react to other people of certain categories.
The tribunal can only be the next step to oblivion.

Yes, it's dumb. Really dumb.
"What will they come up with next to silence confident, secure, hetero White people?"
But it seems it is not meant to "silence confident, secure, hetero White people".
It's meant to control those who try to insult them by using "cis" or "cisgender" as a derogatory term. A "slur. It's a "slur" (so says Musk) when it's directed at such people in (what some dork at Twitter decides is) an abusive or harassing way. I guess there is some of that coming from sexual freaks who get mad when someone does not respect their freakishness.

Musk will never please everyone. So the should stop trying to do that.

Yes, good point and certainly a valid way of looking at it, the left is using it as a slur themselves, and is likely Musk's rational. Being someone who started using it but then felt myself under pressure to not do so because there are those that think using it is some kind of attack on them, my feeling was that this is an attempt to remove the word altogether from use. Which is what the effect of this ban will be. Nobody can use it, even in a self affirming way, which is the left's ultimate goal, They want to eradicate language that in any way is positive and esteem affirming to normal heterosexual people. Musk should realize that his conservative users are not upset about the word, or acronym, cis, even when used against them. I don't believe for a moment that they, in any significant numbers, are pressuring him to act in this way, it's his behind the scenes wokester mentalities who want get rid of a word that they perceive is insulting to them when used.
"a valid way of looking at it"
It's the only way to look at it. You apparently misinterpreted the story.
But you were correct about it being ridiculous. And Musk being ridiculous.
Musk needs to make Twitter profitable so he can take it public again (it'll be easier to do that if Twitter is profitable). I'm sure he does not want to own or be in charge of it forever (of course he cannot control everything about the day-to-day operation of Twitter, including which accounts get banned, which still happens). It's probably now clear to him that to make Twitter profitable he needs advertising. Cost-cutting and selling blue checks for $8/month will not be enough.
There were calls for advertisers to boycott Twitter due to Musk deciding to rein in ToS censorship abuses and restore banned accounts. There will probably be more weirdness coming from Musk as he tries to navigate all of this. As he tries to please everyone.
Personally I think his project is unlikely to succeed. The culture of the US has changed too much. There is no longer a broad commitment to free speech. That has been eroded by demographic and other changes, including the growing influence of women, who are much more likely to favor controls on speech.
Musk's takeover of Twitter has helped people realize this. What will come of this awareness is another question. Probably little or nothing, since the GOP is useless.
