At least 1,000 American deaths linked to coronavirus were reported Tuesday, a death toll that comes as states continue to document record-breaking numbers of new cases. Experts say the virus is not showing any signs of slowing down and new data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows infections could be more than 10 times higher than the number of reported cases in some parts of the country. President Donald Trump said Tuesday the pandemic is likely to "unfortunately, get worse before it gets better" — a prediction that's been echoed by medical experts.

  • Ohio and Minnesota announced mask mandates.
  • California surpassed New York with most confirmed cases in the country.
