Washington post says “U.S. on high alert for Israeli attack on iran” (for the purpose of eliminating iran’s nuclear capability)
“(zh) the WaPo – a conduit for the deep state – writes that ‘the United States is on high alert in anticipation of a potential Israeli strike on iran, with the state department authorizing the evacuation of some personnel in iraq and the pentagon green-lighting the departure of military family members across the middle east.
“the heightened security environment comes as President Donald Trump expresses dimming hopes of achieving a deal with iran that would restrict its nuclear program and forestall a potentially cataclysmal new military confrontation in the middle east.
“‘I’m less confident now than I would have been a couple of months ago. something happened to them, but I am much less confident of a deal being made,’ Trump told the new york post.
“in recent months, U.S. intelligence officials have grown increasingly concerned that Israel may choose to strike iran’s nuclear facilities without the consent of the United States. such a move would almost certainly scuttle the Trump administration’s delicate nuclear negotiations and prompt an iranian retaliation on U.S. assets in the region.”

“Updated 10:27 p.m. edt, thu june 12, 2025”“nuclear sites are being bombed tonight; ‘this is not a one-day attack,’ says Israel”
“(cnn) ‘this is not a one day attack’: Israel launches strikes on iran
• “strikes on iran: Israel has launched [sic] unprecedented attack on iran, targeting the heart of [sic] nation’s nuclear program and senior military leaders. the move plunges the mEast [sic] into fresh uncertainty with the real risk of a wider regional war now breaking out. [N.S.: What a mess, journalism-wise! Missing articles and letters.]
• “nuclear facility: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel struck iran’s main enrichment facility in Natanz, nuclear scientists and what he called ‘the heart of iran’s ballistic missiles program.
• “top commander killed: iranian state media are reporting that general Hossein Samami, the commander-in-chief of iran’s islamic revolutionary guard was among those killed in the attacks.
• “U.S. position: there was no U.S. involvement or U.S. assistance in the strikes, secretary of state Marco Rubio said. ‘tonight, Israel took unilateral action against iran. we are not involved in strikes against iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region,’ he said in a statement.”
N.S.: And if you believe that, I’ve got a great deal for you on a slightly used bridge! The Sabras are fronting for us, just like they did, when they blew up iraq’s osirak reactor in 1981.

I will keep my mind open about this "major attack" actually provoking a "severe response"(Iran's threat). Judging from last year's game of paintball fighting between the two countries,I wonder whether this will escalate also. Until proven otherwise(with Russia,China chiming in with their ally,Iran)I have to say--NOT.
Iran's military must be inept. If they shut the Strait of Hormuz, that might mean a different scenario, however.

So far, markets aren't worried about any of it. They've recouped most of the stock losses. Another nothing burger at this point.

IRAN ATTEMPTS RETALIATORY STRIKES ON ISRAEL,FRIDAY AFTERNOON(EDT)
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Air raid sirens have sounded across Israel ahead following an Iranian missile attack on the country.
The rumble of explosions could be heard throughout Jerusalem, and Israeli TV stations showed plumes of smoke rising in Tel Aviv after an apparent missile strike. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
The army said dozens of missiles were launched.
The army has ordered residents across the country to move into bomb shelters.

TWO WEEKS OF ISRAELI BOMBING IN IRAN--WHERE'S RUSSIA OR CHINA?
GRA:That's some allies Iran has.
Update(1330ET): There are reports that Israeli strikes on Iran have continued through Friday, with the WSJ reporting that up to two weeks of attacks could be coming.
"Israel's operation against Iran's nuclear program, military leadership and arsenal of missiles is nowhere near over, with Israel having planned out 14 days of operations, a senior Israeli official said," WSJ writes.
"The likely duration of the campaign fits with analysts' expectations that a single wave of strikes wouldn't be able to do enough damage to Iran's nuclear program and Israel's comprehensive approach of attacking Iran's facilities, leadership and arsenal at the same time to limit the possibility of a retaliatory strike," the report says.
Israel is bracing for potential big counterattack, and yet clearly Iran is struggling to even get its air defenses active in thwarting the Israeli airstrikes. Still, air defenses appear very active over the capital on Friday.

"ISRAELIS TOLD THEY CAN LEAVE BOMB SHELTERS AS TWO WAVES OF IRANIAN MISSILES ARE FINISHED--NO THIRD WAVE EXPECTED."
GRA:I'm watching cbs coverage this afternoon. Robert Berger, cbs correspondent, said 7 missiles--out of 150--made it through the Israeli defense shield, causing a few minor injuries and hitting an apartment complex. No deaths are reported(true or not).
The ball is now in Israel's court--which they've already said, will be hit back at Iran numerous times.

PUTIN AND OTHER RUSSKIES STATE(VERBAL)SUPPORT FOR IRAN
(Breitbart)Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned Israel’s strikes as a violation of “U.N. Charter and the law” in a statement released by the Kremlin on Friday. Putin reportedly spoke to both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian by phone before releasing his statement.
Despite his harsh words for Israel, Putin said he informed Netanyahu of his “readiness to provide mediation services in order to prevent further escalation of tensions.”
Konstantin Kosachev, a close ally of Putin and vice speaker of the upper house of the Russian parliament, said on Friday that Russia would stand beside its allies in Tehran.
“Israel’s actions cannot be justified from a legal, political, military, or moral point of view. The only hope, albeit illusory, of avoiding a full-scale war is a consolidated condemnation of this operation by the international community,” he said.
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) suggested on Friday that the Kremlin is worried about losing its last claim to international legitimacy as a “powerful interlocutor with Tehran.” The Russians offered this week to help dispose of Iran’s worrying stockpile of near-weapons-grade nuclear material as part of a peace deal.
“Israel’s military campaign tests Iran’s strategic partnership with Russia, and it potentially deprives the Kremlin of a valuable card when it comes to negotiating with Washington over Ukraine,” RFE/RL noted.
GRA:I remember reading,in history books, about allies actually DOING something when another ally was hit--besides putting on cheerleading outfits. Not that I'm wishing Russia sends planes out to the Middle East,I'm just pointing out empty words by a certain country.
