Jury deadlocked, nEGRESS judge says, “go back to deliberate until you reach a verdict” in Officer Schurr case
GRA: According to tv reports at 4 p.m., the jury in the Christopher Schurr trial has told negro female judge, Christina Mims, that after 10 hours of going over the charges, “we cannot reach a verdict.”
Mims told them, “it is too early to declare a mistrial because of a deadlocked jury—go back and continue.”
That’s the latest.

BREAKING NEWS:M I S T R I A L IN CHRISTOPHER SCHURR CASE
(FOX17)GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Judge Christina Mims has declared a mistrial in the trial of Christopher Schurr after the jury was unable to reach a verdict.
For parts of four days, the jury deliberated over whether the former Grand Rapids police officer was guilty of second-degree murder or voluntary manslaughter in the death of Patrick Lyoya.
On Tuesday, May 6, Judge Mims announced the jury was deadlocked and read to the jurors an instruction — often referred to as the Allen charge — telling them to return to their deliberation.
Ultimately, the twelve could not reach unanimity in the case, causing the judge to declare a mistrial on Thursday, May 8.
The prosecution may now retry the case with a new jury — a potential monthslong process — dismiss the charges or enter into a plea agreement with the defendant.
GRA:At the very least, the jury shouldn't have convicted him. At the most, they should have acquitted him of all charges. I doubt another trial will bring a different outcome,so the bare minimum appears to be enough for Mr.Schurr to avoid prison No jury count on who was for or against(yet).
