H.G. Wells’ ambivalence about one-world government
While H.G. Wells was a socialist who believed in a “one-world government,” I also recall him saying that humanity needs to beware of the “brown and yellow swarms” who could someday overrun the planet. On the other hand, War of the Worlds was supposedly a jab at colonialism- a superior race ruthlessly conquering an inferior one, without mercy or qualm.
Perhaps a topic that needs further research.
