as many as 80 russian guns-for-hire ambushed and killed in mali; pax americana, goodbye

Possibly as many as 80 russian guns for hire ambushed and killed in mali:

I say possibly because casualty estimates vary but it's the worst loss for russian paramilitaries in africa. What are the russians doing in africa anyways? I thought the US and Europe was responsible for all the evil military adventurism in the land of Wakanda, at least according to the left. Things have changed though, the Russian influence is growing and China now the dominant economic influence in Africa:

The Wagner mercenaries have a reputation for extreme brutality:

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-58009514

The brics alliance appears to be helping to drive this shift in global power dynamics:

The left is noticeably silent about these developments on the world stage. Back in the day they were enraged about US “imperialism” and any kind of tampering with foreign regimes. But when it’s non-Whites like the chinese, eastern bloc countries, or islamic regimes, then they aren’t the least bit concerned. Apparently, a lot of africans are concerned and are violently resisting these “kinder and gentler” imperialists.

I realize that is a simplistic analysis, the west is financing and arming some of those groups fighting against the russians, some of them may even be islamics and those alliances may shift and change, depending on political and economic circumstances.

The idea that if the U.S. backed off and let these 3rd worlders completely alone that the world would be peaceful and idyllic is absurd. No U.S. means there is a vacuum and others will step up and fill that space. As much complaining as the world does about the U.S. being the dominant economic and military power, they are discovering that allowing certain rivals to gain the advantage isn’t such a good thing after all.

All of it is a waste of our "money". I hope Trump puts an end to this insanity.

EXACTLY ONE YEAR LATER,TO THE MINUTE,HAMAS BOMBS ISRAEL

(ZH)As Israelis mourn October 7, Hamas chose to launch its heaviest missile barrage on Israel in months, which Israel's military says it was mostly able to thwart through its missile defenses.

The terror group even timed its rockets to the coincide precisely with the start of memorial events across the country. Regular rocket attacks had previously largely ceased amid the ongoing ground war in the central and south parts of the Gaza Strip, but for now they've resumed.

"Starting at 6:29 a.m., ceremonies, rallies and ad hoc memorials held across Israel marked the moment a year ago that Gazan terror groups began lobbing massive volleys of rockets, providing air cover for thousands of terrorists speeding across the suddenly pregnable border by land, air and sea and kicking off the largest slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust," Israeli media describes. Unbelievably large plumes of smoke as a result of Hamas and Islamic Jihad (PIJ) rocket attacks.

GRA:That's not exactly remorse,is it?

DID IRAN JUST TEST A NUKE SATURDAY FOR THE FIRST TIME?

(ZH)On Saturday a 4.5-magnitude seismic event occurred in Iran’s Semnan province, sparking speculation that Iran has tested a nuclear weapon for the first time. Such a seismic event is typically the result of an earthquake, but speculation has arisen on social media suggesting the event was instead an underground nuclear test carried out by the Islamic Republic in response to Israeli threats to bomb Tehran’s nuclear energy and oil facilities.

According to Iranian sources speaking with The Cradle, the possibility that a nuclear test was indeed conducted is being discussed at high levels in Iran. Syrian sources speaking with The Cradle in September predicted that Iran would seek to develop breakout nuclear weapons capability in response to Israel’s assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

Iran launched at least 180 ballistic missiles at Israel, causing damage to three airbases on October 1, following Israel’s assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and IRGC commander Abbas Nilforushan on September 27. Iran is now awaiting a possible Israeli response.
