GRA: Who wants to watch or read about a Tampa Bay/LA Dodger World Series? No one.

Instead, I’ll provide coverage of the Yankees/Mets 2020 Faux Fall Classic.

The Yankees, with a strong pitching staff, power hitting and veteran manager Joe Torre, replacing Aaron Boone at midseason, ran away with the A.L.East, then defeated the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the championship round, 4 games to 3, to qualify to face the rival NY Mets, a team left for dead after a 1-37 start, but which finished very much alive—and then some.

Early in the season, Mets’ GM Brodie Van Wagenen went through a celebrity manager a day until he found “the Masked Manager”— Nicholas Stix—to take the Mets to a record 69-game winning streak and the N.L. East title. An easy sweep of the Dodgers gave the Mets a berth in this year’s Series on Sunday.

Stix’ team is the first in many decades to have all White players on its roster—thanks to multiple midseason trades that netted superstars like Mike Trout, Paul Goldschmidt and Ryan Zimmerman—and the enthusiasm in the clubhouse was reflective of a camaraderie not seen SINCE those days past—decades ago.

Full coverage of the finale for baseball in 2020—Yankees vs. Mets—starting Wednesday night—with starters Jacob deGrom (22-10, 2.33 ERA) and Gerrit Cole (21-6, 2.54 ERA) pitching for the Mets and Yankees respectively. --GRA
