Might as well close the schools. Most of the kids aren't learning a whole lot even when they are in school. But they miss the free hot-lunch.

KALAMAZOO DECLARES "POLICE ZONE" TO STOP THOUSANDS FROM GATHERING ON ST.PATRICK'S DAY(AND OTHER WEST MICHIGAN COVID-19 OBSERVATIONS)
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The city of Kalamazoo declared a local state of emergency to give law enforcement tools to deal with off-campus, student-organized events for St. Patrick’s Day amid virus concerns.
Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Chief Karianne Thomas says a police zone will be made in off-campus areas where large St. Patrick’s Day events has occurred in the past. Only verified residents will be allowed in the police zone and officers will be checking IDs, she said.
Officers will close streets and keep a close eye on party activities, she said.
Officers are not releasing the location of this zone at this time to protect their intelligence. The chief says it will only be as big as needed.
The chief says there are serious consequences to anyone who violates those rules.
“Violating a police zone a police zone. There’s always that legal action,” she said. We’ve seen that in the past and then there are various activities that take place during these events, whether those are alcohol-related, driving-related just those so you know there’s things I think no one really wants to face in order to have a good time or a beer.”
She says the declaration was made in order to control large crowds that come to those celebrations. She says there is “credible information” Kalamazoo will host a statewide house party.
The city is asking people to not attend St. Patrick’s day events, including this planned party.
“I’m not a medical professional, but we’ve all been warned as to what close-contact does and the spread of this disease,” Thomas said. “We need to help mitigate that and slow the spread of this current epidemic.”
GRA:I had to drive a little bit today and the traffic flow around my area of GR was about 80% of normal. The big stores, however,a few miles away were swamped.I was at one of them yesterday--half hour wait at the checkout lane.People coughing.I said half kidding/half serious,"you have coronavirus?"
"No,just sick--ain't got no coronavirus."
Uh huh.
One independent worker, whose job is placing magazines in the display racks of each checkout lane, walked past my line--about two customers to the rear of me,sounding like he WAS a walking case of pneumonia.
3 people with the virus in my county,Kent (officially). That's because no one's getting tested yet.Kent County's Health Dept.sounded like Ohio's health chief,by stating,"There are many people with COVID-19 in Kent County."
Many more tests are being set up in an outdoor, less urban location, where drivers will pull up to get tested. They stay in their cars.
That's it from Grand Rapids.
