I never contribute to GoFundMe pages. Many such pages have been exposed as scams, where a third party claims to be fundraising on behalf of someone who has suffered a great tragedy, only to pocket all the money. There's a blog that specializes in such reports, gofraudme.com. GoFundMe has no safeguards to ensure that campaigns are legit, and the money goes to the victims, or their survivors.
