What was going on at "770"?!


770 Eastern Parkway, or "770," for short, is the world capital for Chabad-Lubavitcher Chassidim. In a previous life, back when the rebbe was still alive, I davvened (prayed) there many times. The Lubavitchers were very good to me.

Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneersohn lived from 1902-1994. When he did his rounds through the throngs at 770, he always had a twinkle in his eyes for little children he saw. He left no sons to carry his mantel.

The brooklyn paper and google images give this image as being that of "770." It's not the 770 I know. It's next door. Are they trying to fool anti-Semites? They all know where the real 770 is.

I read several of the news items on this and could not make any sense out of it. It seems a group of Jews have made a "professional" tunnel under the building to study or worship and resisted having the tunnel filled in. Why, why, why? None of the articles explained it.

Ditto here, but I have the same reaction to most "noise" (GRA) stories these days. Virtually none of them answer the basic questions we learned about in elementary school: Who? What? When? How? and Why?
