World Series Game Three Ends on Bang-Bang Play, Obstruction; St. Louis Wins 5-4, Goes Ahead, 2 Games to 1

By Nicholas Stix

With the game tied at 4, in the bottom of the ninth, Cardinal catcher Yadier Molina ran home on a ground ball, but Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia, playing in, dove for the grounder and sidearmed the ball home, cutting down Yadier Molina. Bosox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia then gunned the ball to third, to try and throw out Allen Craig, but threw the ball into left field. Boston third baseman Will Middlebrooks went horizontal, stretching for Saltamacchia’s throw, and landed on his midsection. Seeing that Craig was going to score the winning room, Middlebrooks popped up his lower legs at third base, tripping Craig, who got up and was thrown out at home, but the third base umpire had caught him, and signaled the home umpire, who signaled obstruction.

Fox Sports announcer Tim McCarver noted that according to the rule, the fielder’s intent doesn’t matter, and claimed that Middlebrooks hadn’t intentionally tripped Craig, but that’s not what I saw.

Was a black man involved in the murder of Martha Moxley?

I've never felt sorry for Michael Skakel, I always associated him with the general arrogance and recklessness of the Kennedy men and still feel inclined to believe he did the crime. However, considering the high rate of sexual/homocidal violence black men direct toward white women I can't help but wonder if Skakel wasn't a victim of PC profiling and a possible negro perp dismissed for the same type of PC reasons. Do you recall the Tevin Geike race murder?
I had almost forgotten about it (helps when the national media deep sixes the story) and looked for some followup stories. It has been determined by police this was not a racist bias crime. Knock me over with a feather.
There's far more indication of racial bias in this crime than Trayvon Martin, can't make this stuff up. Jerry

I think it was deliberate on Middlebrooks's part, because of the timing of him lifting his legs in the air based on Craig trying to run for home. That's the way it looked when they showed it from behind.
