John Wayne: 1976 Interview

Re-posted by Nicholas Stix

John Wayne in The Shootist

If Wayne sounds a little short-winded at times, keep in mind that he was 69, and had been operating on only one lung for roughly 12 years. This was a few months after he had finished his swan song, The Shootist. Three years later, he would die of cancer.

We shall not see his like again.

I don't think Mr. Wayne would be too happy to see the state of the country and who is running it.

I know I'm not.

No question about it. The Duke would be disgusted with the way things are, ney, are not being handled here. I wish to God he was still with us.....I think he would probably march right into the U.S. Congress and tell them exactly "how it is"!

One of the greatest American Film Icon's of the 20th Century. He projected strength and fairness and common decency. Nothing at all like the PC hollywood we have today.
