What’s the Matter with Matt Harvey?
Give you a tip, kid: Respect the fans!
By Nicholas Stix
Mets skipper Terry Collins had just lifted starter Matt Harvey, with two outs in the eighth. Harvey had pitched a great game, but he had just given up a 459-foot bomb to Cubs rookie Kyle Schwarber, cutting the Mets lead down to two runs.
As Harvey slowly walked to the dugout, the Mets fans gave him a standing ovation. And Harvey… ignored them. No tip of the cap, no touching of the bill. Nothing.
And I don’ think that’s the first time I’ve seen that out of him.
Some day the ovations will stop, and Harvey will them, but will the fans miss him.
The score is 4-2, with two outs in the bottom of the eighth.
