Shrinking Middle Class Takes a Toll on Retailers

By A Texas Reader

From the billboards advertising food banks here locally, to the rising number of homeless begging at street corners, it looks like the middle class has morphed into the lower class.

Looks like Hope and Change® has become hope I find some loose change.

Ah well, the elites have their yachts and gated communities, and us hoi polloi are left to die on the vine.

At the Dallas Morning News.

N.S.: This can’t be right: As the “Obama” administration and the New York Times have told us countless times, we have been in a recovery since January, 2009. That means that the middle class has for over five-and-a-half years been hale and hearty, and flush with cash. To claim otherwise would be – rimshot! – “Racist!”

Since the numbers the government presents are just mostly distortions a person ends up having to rely on what their personal observations are and swapping notes with others. People who've traveled around the country tell me that outside of the cities and suburbs the people look as if they are deteriorating. Trailer parks are all over the country and are full of people who have few prospects. A lot of people apply for disability, seeing it as their best hope. Food Stamp use is at the highest it's ever been. A large chunk of the population seems to have just dropped out. Graduating students are having lots of problems. Dollar stores and lower end retailers seem to be on the uptick. So yes, whatever one considers to be the middle class these days is eroding.
