Thanks to my partner-in-crime, David in TN, for the following article.
In the accompanying video, NBC Chicago reporter Christian Farr recounts of Kelli O'Laughlin’s murder, “which police said occurred during a botched robbery.”
There’s that old “botched robbery” talking point.
Considering that O'Laughlin’s murderer relished having killed her, and bragged about it to the dead girl’s mother, I would describe what happened as a successful murder, rather than a “botched robbery.” Murdering a white girl appears to have been the highlight of the racist killer’s criminal career.
However, upon reviewing the 2011 story I posted about the murder, in addition to feeling compassion for the O’Laughlins, I also feel some for the defendant’s brother.
His family says Wilson, who has spent much of the last two decades behind bars, suffers from psychiatric problems.
“My little brother, he has a problem,” Wilson's older brother Shun Dantzler said at his home in the South Chicago neighborhood. “He had problems, psychiatric problems. He needs an assessment.”
Dantzler expressed sorrow for Kelli’s family. “I want justice because that’s really horrific,” he said of the slaying. “I’m so sorry for Kelli’s family. I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry. My God please have mercy on Kelli and on my little brother’s soul….”
Wilson's brother said he told a judge about Wilson’s mental problems.
“If he’s fit for trial, why is he doing so much negativity in custody?” Dantzler said he told the judge in 2002. “Throwing feces on the guards. You don’t do stuff like that. My grandma did not raise us to be like that.”
It’s so rare nowadays that you hear black family members of heinous killers talk like that, apologizing to their victims’ families. More typically, the killers’ families have contempt for the victims and the latters’ families, a la racist monsters Vanessa Coleman’s and Brittany Norwood’s parents.

Thursday's testimony in the murder trial of Kelli O'Laughlin marked a heart-wrenching day for the family of the 14-year-old suburban Chicago teen found brutally stabbed to death in 2011.
Graphic autopsy photos presented in court forced some of O'Laughlin's family to leave the room, and prosecutors revealed that a haunting message was posted under the teen's Facebook profile one day after she was found murdered.

During testimony on Thursday afternoon, LaGrange Police officer Patrick Fulla testified the message read, "Next time the b**** will do as told."
An investigator described a gruesome crime scene at Kelli O'Laughlin's murder trial today. Also revealed in court: the efforts made to save the teenager's life.
John Wilson Jr. is accused of stabbing O'Laughlin in her Indian Head Park home in the 6300 block of Keokuk Road on Oct. 27, 2011.
Prosecutors said O'Laughlin walked in on Wilson after he broke into the home and was stabbed multiple times with an 8-inch carving knife from her kitchen.
• Witnesses Testify in O'Laughlin Murder Trial
The house was found ransacked, and a bowl of coins, O'Laughlin's cell phone and an iPod Touch were stolen.
• Mom Receives Disturbing Texts After Daughter's Murder
O'Laughlin's mother, Brenda, described last week the haunting texts she received from her daughter's smartphone after the murder.
The first text came the day after O'Laughlin's death, asking "what Brenda?" The text was followed by another that read "love your pic," and the most haunting of all: "she wanted me to tell you something before I killed her."
Cook County Medical Examiner Stephen Cina on Thursday testified that O'Laughlin died from multiple stab wounds, 18 injuries in total, and said the fatal injury was a stab wound to the girl's chest that caused "massive internal bleeding."
The defense pointed out that Cina did not perform O'Laughlin's autopsy because he was not the medical examiner at the time of her death.
The trial could wrap up by the end of the week. Wilson is not expected to take the stand in his own defense.

I used to drive through Indian Head Park every day. Very nice white area. And this thug had to go a long way to reach the suburban locale as he was from the "inner city". Many miles of driving just reach the location.
Taunting in such a fashion is a sure indication of a depraved and evil mentality. NOT a botched burglary or robbery.
Remember, this occurred AFTER The Mighty Quinn signed a bill banning the death penalty in the People's Republic of Illinois.
We need politicians with the courage to bring back the DP to IL.
And use a firing squad, not the stupid "humane" drugs.
This case has been on Chicago TV daily, which is a surprise. I'm sure this family felt safe moving into this lovely suburb. This is such a disgusting outrage. One cannot even begin to comprehend what this family has to endure. Thieves often use Google to check out the layout of homes before they rob them. This is happening more often in affluent suburbs. Section 8 housing is in some of the best suburbs. This administration wanted groids to have access to the best housing, schools, transportation, forget about jobs, its on our tab.
We are subsidizing our own demise. Where is the outrage? We don't have a voice. The media, with the exception of this site and a few others, deliberately suppress the truth. Here is a case of a family that sacrificed financially to be in a safer neighborhood. They paid high taxes. It is so creepy to think that perhaps there is no place safe now. As long as we have these feral dangerous creatures roaming around, up to no good, we can never rest easy. They are more emboldened than ever.
I just sent two news items on the verdict, guilty FWIW.
