'Tis the season, part II: Whitey joins in the triple murder (and double dog murder) spree in Berwyn, illinois; John Lyons is shot dead during gunfight with cops

"(Fox 32) Berwyn, ill. - a man suspected of a triple homicide was fatally shot by police wednesday night after a series of violent incidents in Berwyn.
"at approximately 11:38 p.m., Berwyn police responded to a report of a person with a gun in the 1800 block of home avenue. when officers arrived, they spotted a man who ran off on foot and managed to escape.
"he then forced his way into a home in the 1800 block of wenonah avenue, where he shot and killed two dogs, according to police.
"officers later located the man fleeing east into a yard on home avenue.
"police said the suspect ignored their verbal commands to stop and opened fire on officers.
"in response, Berwyn officers returned fire, fatally striking the man. no officers were injured in the exchange.
"according to the Cook county medical examiner, the suspect that was killed was identified as 24-year-old John Lyons, of westchester.
"initial investigations revealed that Lyons was a suspect in a triple homicide that occurred at 9:41 p.m. that same night in the 1100 block of riverside drive in mahomet, ill.
"the illinois state police public integrity task force is now investigating the incident."

(WCIA)John R. Lyons, the suspect in a triple homicide in Mahomet, Illinois, was killed during a police shootout in Berwyn, 140 miles north of the crime scene. Lyons fatally shot three members of the Mason family: Janis, 61; Caleb, 23; and Sarah, 26. Sarah died at the scene, while Janis and Caleb succumbed to injuries at Carle Hospital.
The suspect in the triple homicide in Mahomet, near Champaign, Illinois on Thursday evening was shot down after a manhunt on Friday in suburban Berwyn.
John R Lyons fatally shot three members of the Mason family - Janis L. Mason, 61, Caleb M. Mason, 23, and Sara E. Mason, 26.
Lyons died in a shootout with the police in Berwyn, a town in suburban Illinois, around 140 miles north of Mahomet. Meanwhile, Sarah Mason, the youngest victim died on the scene, while the other two, Janis and Caleb, died at Carle Hospital where they died. In a CBS News report, a friend of Janis Mason described her as an "amazing person who was loved and respected."
Meanwhile, it was revealed that while Lyons, the suspect, was fleeing from the police, he entered a home at Wenonah Avenue and shot and killed two dogs. He tried to flee into another home on Home Avenue but the police shot and killed him.
Meanwhile, controversial white-supremacist internet personality Nick Fuentes posted a video on social media claiming that he was the intended target of the attack. He also provided doorbell camera footage of what appears to be a man with a gun. However, the police are yet to link the death to Fuentes.
"He came to my door with a gun and crossbow--also incendiary devices,"Fuentes asserted.
Fuentes was arrested on December 7, 2024, on battery charges after allegedly pepper-spraying a woman named Marla Rose outside his home in Berwyn, Illinois. The incident occurred after Rose confronted Fuentes about a controversial social media post he made regarding abortion rights. Fuentes was released on his own recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on January 16, 2025.
As of Thursday afternoon, Lyons' motive for the Mahomet shooting and his connection to the victims remained unknown, CBS News reported.
