(Fox59)UPDATE (12/26/2024): The suspect, 45-year-old Andres Sanchez Garzon, has been identified for his alleged role in the Christmas day shooting, according to IMPD.
INDIANAPOLIS — Police are investigating after six people were reportedly shot on Indy’s northeast side Wednesday afternoon, one of which was killed.
This shooting occurred just 0.2 miles away from a fatal shooting that unfolded on Wednesday less than an hour earlier.
Per the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were called around 12:27 p.m. to the 6400 block of Meadowlark Drive.
Officers entered the residence and found four unharmed juveniles standing in the living room. However, IMPD said they then found two adult victims — a man and a woman — in the back room of the residence who had injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. A firearm was also found inside the residence.
The woman then self-transported to an area hospital with another male victim. The man was in stable condition and the woman was in critical condition. However, that woman was later pronounced deceased at the hospital, IMPD wrote in a press release.
The victim was identified as 37-year-old Ana G. Paredes.
Police detained an adult male as a person of interest. He, too, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Later, IMPD received a report of a walk-in person shot at a hospital in the 8600 block of Allisonville Road. There, they found a man in critical condition with gunshot-related injuries. That man was believed to have sustained injuries during the Meadowlark Drive incident.
Lastly, IMPD received another report of a walk-in person shot at Eskenazi Hospital. There, they found a man with gunshot related injuries. Investigators believe that man was also believed to have sustained injuries during the Meadowlark Drive incident.
According to IMPD, officers believe the incident stemmed from a disturbance at a residence among family and friends. Among the six people shot, four self-transported and two were transported by EMS to area hospitals.
