Olivia Hussey—from 1968’s Romeo and Juliet—a top 5 “most beautiful woman in film history,” dead at 73
“London (ap) — Olivia Hussey, the actor [sic] who starred as a teenage Juliet in the 1968 film Romeo and Juliet, has died, her family said on social media Saturday. she was 73.
“‘Hussey died on friday, “peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones,” a statement posted to her instagram account said.
“Hussey was 15 when director Franco Zeffirelli cast her in his adaptation of the William Shakespeare tragedy after spotting her onstage in the play the prime of miss Jean Brodie, which also [sic] starred Vanessa Redgrave.
“Romeo and Juliet won two oscars and Hussey won a golden globe for best new actress for her part as Juliet, opposite british actor Leonard Whiting, who was 16 at the time.”
GRA: Olivia Hussey had it all—beautiful face, great body, and a British accent. She should have been a “Bond girl,” but maybe she was too short or something. Actually, Halle Berry is short—so who knows?

Mancini was an icon. Hussey,an iconic beauty. Greg Gumbel...NOT an icon.

I'd have climbed a tree for her too--ten times the height of the one in the scene. Now you can just walk to the cemetary.

According to da internet,"Olivia Hussey turned down the Kim Darby role in "True Grit",saying she could never work with someone(famous)like John Wayne. That decision cast her as someone who didn't want to "play the Hollywood game."
An internet theory.

In high school they marched us into the auditorium and played Romeo and Juliet for us. Why I don't know, maybe they thought it was an introduction to Shakespeare but I did find it entertaining. I fell in love with Olivia Hussey the moment I saw her, she was most definitely a true beauty. Another thing thing about the movie, I don't remember seeing a single negro. Nowadays, half the cast for a period piece where there rarely were any negores, they'd be all over the place.
The only two movies I remember getting to see--"black like me" and patty duke in the "miracle worker". Maybe that weed propaganda movie too. No popcorn.

Actual headline from "the wrap.com":
87 year old,Linda Lavin Died With 3 Episodes Left to Shoot for New Hulu Comedy Series ‘Mid-Century Modern’
GRA:Are they inferring Lavin broke her contract or that she was just rude?
By the way,Lavin was not iconic either.

A last comment from me on Olivia Hussey. There were many pictures of Miss Hussey posted from her days in the late 60s and 70s. I would estimate 75% of them were sans a smile, which was unfortunate, because any photos of her WITH a smile were absolutely ravishing. I could only rate those photos a 20--on a scale of 1 to 10.
