This woman lived thru the Chinese Cultural [ communist ] Revolution and explains how it operated. It has been uncovered that the courts in the states officially switched to enforcing communism just over 70 years ago. This included a complete change in the court system [ type of courts ] that has been kept secret from the citizens and even attorneys.

The current courts recognize no rights - only a few privileges and in court the judges do not hesitate to make this very clear. The judges for a very long time have told defendants that they only have the rights the judges give them. Now that this has been figured out, the judges are openly telling people they have no actual right to due process - such as discovery.

The judges are quick to deny people any info about the system of law now being enforced or about the courts enforcing it or any evidence the current system of law can be constitutionally imposed on them in complete defiance of SCOTUS decisions saying we have an absolute right to that info.

In the past 70 years all rights have become highly regulated or out right criminalized. People today have no idea of what a right is and confuse mere privileges with rights.

In the past 15 years SCOTUS has made rulings to try and push back, but the laws have not been changed to reflect the SCOTUS decisions and the lower enforcement judges are totally ignoring SCOTUS in its clearly stated decisions.

SCOTUS in the past has even clearly stated the rules the current courts are suppose to follow - only to be ignored and the attorneys are not taught any of this in the law schools.

It would interesting to find out exactly who the current judges are taking their orders from.

New Orleans, 1972.

Drunken cheer resounds through the French Quarter on New Year's Eve. As revelers dance through the streets and prepare to turn the page, a blue 1963 Chevrolet pulls up a block from the headquarters of the New Orleans Police Department.

The engine rumbles off. Mark Essex alights in the night with a green duffel bag along Perdido Street. He is packing a Ruger .44 Magnum carbine, a .38-caliber revolver with the serial number filed off, a gas mask, wire cutters, lighter fluid, matches, and firecrackers. Essex is a young black man with murder on his mind, and tonight, he will fire the first shots in a weeklong spree targeting white people with the aim of starting a revolution.

When the killing stopped, eight would lie dead by Essex's hand, including three police officers. His rampage only ended with the intervention of a rogue United States Marine Corps pilot named Charles Pitman, who commandeered a helicopter without military authorization to help hunt Essex.

This is the story of the New Orleans Sniper, the seven days of hell he visited upon that city, and the uncommon valor of the man who risked his life and career to save others.

I've long wanted to write about this episode of American history in no small part because I was raised on Die Hard, and Pitman struck me as a "Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker" kind of guy. When "Chuck" died of cancer in 2020, he was a retired lieutenant general who had flown 1,200 missions in Vietnam, survived being shot down seven times, took an anti-materiel rifle round to the leg, and played a part in Operation Eagle Claw. But he said the thing he was proudest of in life was having helped take down Essex.

New Orleans showed its enduring gratitude to Pitman by making him an honorary police captain in 1991. The Marines rewarded him with a threatened court-trial for "borrowing" a helicopter. The issue was thankfully resolved when U.S. Rep F. Edward Hébert, a New Orleans-based Democrat and then chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, lobbied on Pitman's behalf.

Harvey Mansfield once defined manliness as "confidence in a situation of risk," a quality he argued has been in short supply in the West of late. Pitman had that and then some. A harder American you would be hard-pressed to find. Pitman deserves to be honored, and I want to do that here.

Another reason I find this story fascinating is that it seems to have been virtually memory-holed, despite the fact that it captured national headlines and influenced the way police would handle these scenarios in the future. This was a deeply traumatic event for Americans at the time.

It briefly jumped back into the public consciousness in 2016 when a black military veteran targeted white police officers in Dallas, Texas.

Tom Casey, a retired member of the New Orleans Police Department, watched the carnage unfold in the news and was returned to that awful day. "I never met any Dallas cops, but I felt like they were my brothers," he told The Advocate. "And I felt the same watching that on TV as I did in that helicopter." Casey was among the officers who joined Pitman on the chopper that fateful day.

I should note that Peter Hernon's A Terrible Thunder: The Story of the New Orleans Sniper is an incredible book. It was one of many resources I used for this story, but easily the most indispensable one. It's a sterling example of real, old-fashioned journalism.

You'd have never guessed Mark James Robert Essex would someday be a crazed Pan-African nationalist shown the door by prominent Black Panthers who dismissed him as "beyond crazy." There had been little in his upbringing to presage a cold-blooded killer. He was, as Cormac McCarthy described the murderous Lester Ballard, a "child of God much like yourself perhaps." So then again, maybe there had been.

He was born on August 12, 1949, in Emporia, Kansas, the second of five children. His father, Mark Henry Essex, was a World War II veteran and foreman at the Fanestil Meat Packing Company, and his mother worked with disadvantaged preschool-aged children. The family was tight-knit and very Christian. Indeed, Essex had even considered becoming a man of the cloth at one point. Later in life, he would tell the minister who baptized him that "Christianity is a white man's religion."

"'and the white man's been running things too long,' Essex said.

"the upland prairie town took its name from ancient carthage. a young publisher named George Washington Brown encountered a reference to emporia, 'a flourishing market center on the african coast and founded by the greeks,' in a history book. it seems he thought it fit the optimistic outlook of the people who settled it in 1857.

Essex enjoyed a childhood and adolescence devoid of racial acrimony. He was a Cub Scout with friends of all hues, stayed out of trouble and did alright in school. Classmates remembered him as a cheerful, smiling kid. He stood around 5'4," but he was fit. A friend who was also Essex's flag football coach described him as "a pretty good athlete, small and a little thin but he was very fast and had good moves," and "a happy-go-lucky kid."

After graduating from high school, he briefly attended college before giving all that up and doing a short stint at the same plant where his father worked. But the world called to him. Essex had dreams beyond the prairie. His father encouraged him to enlist in the military, which he did shortly after turning 19. That was his ticket out. The Navy sent him to San Diego, California, for training.

All things considered, he had it pretty good.

The day after Essex enlisted with the Navy, First Lieutenant John E. Warren Jr., a black U.S. Army officer, hurled himself on an enemy grenade in Vietnam's Tây Ninh Province. Warren saved three men with that act of valor and posthumously received the Medal of Honor. Essex, in contrast, would be spared the green inferno. Instead, he attended dental technician school before being assigned to the Imperial Beach Naval Air Station, near some nice beaches and the border with Tijuana, Mexico, whose bodegas he and his friends would occasionally hit up for drinks.

By all accounts, he excelled through basic and advanced training.

Essex formed a close bond with his white supervisor, Lieutenant Robert Hatcher, who was impressed with the young sailor's work ethic and dedication. "When Mark checked aboard, I signed him up for the flag football team I coached," Hatcher said.¹

He was a good team man, sort of an all-American boy. In those days he was just about the nicest person in the world. He was concerned about everybody around him, concerned about learning his job. I had one assistant who was better, but the kid had much more experience than Mark. He was the kind of person I liked to have around, a happy-go-lucky kid who was very hard to get rattled . . . Mark and I were about as close as an enlisted man and officer could be. Very frankly, we really threw a lot of b.s. out the window.

Other coworkers offered similar descriptions of Essex, "an easygoing guy" who would "sing to himself and be real friendly with everyone."

However, it was during Essex's time in the Navy that the seeds of hatred for whites were sown in his heart.

In letters home, he wrote about discrimination and bullying. Essex seemed unprepared for dealing with the world outside Emporia. His idyllic upbringing left him emotionally and psychologically ill-equipped for it. He developed a short fuse. On one occasion, he started a fistfight with another sailor over a slight provocation. The "riding" got to him. Extra bed checks. Extra guard duty. Soon, he started to take sedatives out of the medicine chest to deal with his nerves.

Hatcher acknowledged Essex's concerns and staunchly vouched for him in disputes. He said Essex underwent a "drastic shift" that was "very sudden," and suspected that the sailor fell under the influence of black militants:

The change was very sudden; it seemed to come in a matter of weeks . . . I remember joking with him about getting a ticket on the freeway, and he thought that the "white honky" was after him and we kind of joshed it off. But the problems seemed to start happening then. I have a feeling that he got in with a group of blacks who really felt they were being put down. And I don't think it was just based oriented.

Hatcher added that Essex talked about meeting in person with "guys who were putting out an underground newspaper." He advised his protégé to stay above it and focus on work opportunities. Essex listened for a time, and he quickly advanced in rank.

Then Essex abruptly took a defensive and belligerent turn, one that put him on a path that would end in blood and tears...

“according to the state high court, the former empire actor should not have been charged after he entered a non-prosecution agreement with the Cook county state attorney’s office.

“‘today we resolve a question about the state’s responsibility to honor the agreements it makes with defendants,’ the court wrote in documents obtained by fox news. ‘specifically, we address whether a dismissal of a case by nolle prosequi allows the state to bring a second prosecution when the dismissal was entered as part of an agreement with the defendant and the defendant has performed his part of the bargain. we hold that a second prosecution under these circumstances is a due process violation, and we therefore reverse defendant’s conviction.

“the brothers, Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundario, claim Smollett paid them $3,500 to stage an infamous hate-crime hoax on january 29, 2019 - when the former empire star [sic] claimed he was attacked around 2 a.m. by two White men who recognized him from the show shouted racist and homophobic slurs, doused him in a bleach-like liquid, hung a rope around his neck, and yelled, ‘this is maga country.

“the scandal soon engulfed Cook county state’s attorney Kim Foxx, who was widely criticized for the move and was later found to have made a series of unethical blunders in her handling of the case.

“Smollet was originally slapped with a 16-count indictment for lying to the police, however the Cook county state attorney’s office suddenly dropped the charges after Michelle Obama’s former chief of staff, Tina Tchen, pressured chicago’s top prosecutor, Kim Foxx, to transfer the case to the fbi. when that wasn’t done, Foxx’s office decided not to pursue the case.

There’s some suggestion that Foxx cut the initial “no punishment” deal as a way to insure Smollet would then be free and clear—blacks looking out for blacks. Once the special prosecutor saw the deal as a piece of garbage, he recharged Smollet the way Foxx should have. black prosecutors “making felonies disappear with no repercussions”—black law’s definition in a sentence. Part 2 is using that same power to overcharge and get Whitey.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country.
Inaugural Address

January 20th, 1961

Vice President Johnson, Mr. Speaker, Mr. Chief Justice, President Eisenhower, Vice President Nixon, President Truman, reverend clergy, fellow citizens, we observe today not a victory of party, but a celebration of freedom - symbolizing an end, as well as a beginning - signifying renewal, as well as change. For I have sworn before you and Almighty God the same solemn oath our forebears prescribed nearly a century and three quarters ago.

The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe - the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God.

We dare not forget today that we are the heirs of that first revolution. Let the word go forth from this time and place, to friend and foe alike, that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans - born in this century, tempered by war, disciplined by a hard and bitter peace, proud of our ancient heritage - and unwilling to witness or permit the slow undoing of those human rights to which this Nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at home and around the world.

Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the survival and the success of liberty.

This much we pledge - and more.

To those old allies whose cultural and spiritual origins we share, we pledge the loyalty of faithful friends. United, there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures. Divided, there is little we can do - for we dare not meet a powerful challenge at odds and split asunder.

To those new States whom we welcome to the ranks of the free, we pledge our word that one form of colonial control shall not have passed away merely to be replaced by a far more iron tyranny. We shall not always expect to find them supporting our view. But we shall always hope to find them strongly supporting their own freedom - and to remember that, in the past, those who foolishly sought power by riding the back of the tiger ended up inside.

To those peoples in the huts and villages across the globe struggling to break the bonds of mass misery, we pledge our best efforts to help them help themselves, for whatever period is required - not because the Communists may be doing it, not because we seek their votes, but because it is right. If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich.

To our sister republics south of our border, we offer a special pledge - to convert our good words into good deeds - in a new alliance for progress - to assist free men and free governments in casting off the chains of poverty. But this peaceful revolution of hope cannot become the prey of hostile powers. Let all our neighbors know that we shall join with them to oppose aggression or subversion anywhere in the Americas. And let every other power know that this Hemisphere intends to remain the master of its own house.

To that world assembly of sovereign states, the United Nations, our last best hope in an age where the instruments of war have far outpaced the instruments of peace, we renew our pledge of support - to prevent it from becoming merely a forum for invective - to strengthen its shield of the new and the weak - and to enlarge the area in which its writ may run.

Finally, to those nations who would make themselves our adversary, we offer not a pledge but a request: that both sides begin anew the quest for peace, before the dark powers of destruction unleashed by science engulf all humanity in planned or accidental self-destruction.
We dare not tempt them with weakness. For only when our arms are sufficient beyond doubt can we be certain beyond doubt that they will never be employed. But neither can two great and powerful groups of nations take comfort from our present course - both sides overburdened by the cost of modern weapons, both rightly alarmed by the steady spread of the deadly atom, yet both racing to alter that uncertain balance of terror that stays the hand of mankind's final war.

So let us begin anew - remembering on both sides that civility is not a sign of weakness, and sincerity is always subject to proof. Let us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate.

Let both sides explore what problems unite us instead of belabouring those problems which divide us.

Let both sides, for the first time, formulate serious and precise proposals for the inspection and control of arms - and bring the absolute power to destroy other nations under the absolute control of all nations.

Let both sides seek to invoke the wonders of science instead of its terrors. Together let us explore the stars, conquer the deserts, eradicate disease, tap the ocean depths, and encourage the arts and commerce.

Let both sides unite to heed in all corners of the earth the command of Isaiah - to "undo the heavy burdens - and to let the oppressed go free."

And if a beachhead of cooperation may push back the jungle of suspicion, let both sides join in creating a new endeavour, not a new balance of power, but a new world of law, where the strong are just and the weak secure and the peace preserved.

All this will not be finished in the first 100 days. Nor will it be finished in the first 1,000 days, nor in the life of this Administration, nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

In your hands, my fellow citizens, more than in mine, will rest the final success or failure of our course. Since this country was founded, each generation of Americans has been summoned to give testimony to its national loyalty. The graves of young Americans who answered the call to service surround the globe.

Now the trumpet summons us again - not as a call to bear arms, though arms we need; not as a call to battle, though embattled we are - but a call to bear the burden of a long twilight struggle, year in and year out, "rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation" - a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself.

Can we forge against these enemies a grand and global alliance, North and South, East and West, that can assure a more fruitful life for all mankind? Will you join in that historic effort?

In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shank from this responsibility - I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavour will light our country and all who serve it -- and the glow from that fire can truly light the world.

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.

My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.

Finally, whether you are citizens of America or citizens of the world, ask of us the same high standards of strength and sacrifice which we ask of you. With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own.

In Dallas 47 years ago today, Communist and dishonorably discharged ex-Marine Lee Harvey Oswald assassinated 46-year-old President John F. Kennedy, shooting him from a window in the Texas School Book Depository building, as the President's motorcade passed through Dealey Plaza.

Forty-three years ago yesterday, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th president of the United States of America, was felled in Dallas by Lee Harvey Oswald, a communist, dishonorably discharged, ex-marine. For most of my life, November 22 was commemorated as one of the darkest days in American history. In recent years, such commemoration seems to have been fading.

President Kennedy was riding that day in a motorcade with his wife, Jackie, Texas Gov. John Connally and the latter's wife, Idanell (1919-2006), and Texan Vice President Lyndon Baines Johnson. Kennedy had come to Texas to shore up a rift among Texas Democrats.

As soon as she saw her husband had been hit with gunfire, Mrs. Kennedy showed herself willing to sacrifice her own life, to save her husband's. She threw herself across her husband, to shield his body from further gunfire with her own, as if she were a secret service agent, rather than America's First Lady. Alas, it was too late.

Gov. Connally also was wounded, and his wife, Idanell Brill "Nellie" Connally (1919-2006), helped save his life by "pull[ing] the Governor onto her lap, and the resulting posture helped close his front chest wound (which was causing air to be sucked directly into his chest around his collapsed right lung)."

Later that day, aboard Air Force One, Vice President Johnson was sworn in as America's 36th President.

On April 11, Oswald had attempted to assassinate rightwing Army Gen. Edwin Walker; one hour after assassinating the President, he murdered Dallas Patrolman J.W. Tippit, before being arrested in a Dallas movie theater. Two days later, Oswald was himself murdered by Jack Ruby, as lawmen sought to transfer Oswald from police headquarters to the Dallas City Jail.

Jack Kennedy has become, like his ersthwile fling, Marilyn Monroe, a Rohrschach Test, onto which people (particularly leftists) project their preoccupations. Thus do conspiracy obsessives project the notion that the President's assassination had issued out of a conspiracy so immense, including at least two assassins, with the identity of the specific participants – the Cosa Nostra, the CIA, Fidel Castro – depending on the imaginings of the obsessive in question.

Likewise has Kennedy's presidency been fetishized by leftwing obsessives and family retainers, who have turned him into a socialist demigod, who supported massive economic redistribution and radical "civil rights."

The best way of summing up the real JFK versus the fantasy version propagated by the Left and Kennedy courtiers since his death, is by comparison and contrast to President Richard M. Nixon, Kennedy's opponent in the 1960 election.

Kennedy has been portrayed as a leftwing saint and Renaissance man, who gave us or supported (or would have, had he lived) the War on Poverty, civil rights for blacks, and utopia. Nixon, by contrast, was a rightwing Mephistopheles ("Tricky Dick"), and a crude, racist, fascist warmonger.

Politically, Kennedy and Nixon actually had much in common. Both were unapologetic anti-communists in matters domestic and foreign. Nixon successfully prosecuted for perjury the traitor and Soviet spy, Alger Hiss (which inspired the Left to work tirelessly thereafter for Nixon's destruction), while Kennedy ("Ich bin ein Berliner.") was an unequivocal supporter of West Berlin against Soviet imperialism, and risked nuclear war, when he faced down the Soviets during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. (Due to the statute of limitations, Nixon could not prosecute Hiss for treason or espionage.) On the negative side of the ledger, Kennedy betrayed the Cuban insurgents who carried out the Bay of Pigs invasion, by withholding promised air support, thus turning the invasion into a fiasco.

Domestically, at least in fiscal matters, Kennedy was considerably to the right of Nixon. Early in Kennedy's administration, he signed off on what was then the biggest tax cut ever, and which set the economy on fire. In light of Kennedy's fiscal conservatism and belief in self-reliance ("Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country"), it is highly unlikely that he would have signed off on a program for massive government welfare programs. The War on Poverty was the idea of Lyndon Johnson, who exploited the nation's mourning for JFK to ram his programs through Congress.

By contrast, Nixon introduced price-and-wage controls, a move that was far to the left economically of the Democratic Party, even after Kennedy. And it was Nixon, the hated "racist," not Kennedy or even Johnson, who institutionalized affirmative action. Note that over 30 percent of blacks voted for Nixon for president, over three times as high a proportion than ever would vote for George W. Bush for president.

For over thirty years, leftist Democrats have sought to tar and feather Nixon as a "racist" for his "Southern Strategy" of appealing to Southern whites with promises of "law and order." The presuppositions of the leftist critics are: 1. If one is not a leftist, one may not campaign for the votes of groups that may potentially vote for one, but rather must hopelessly chase after the votes of people who will never vote for him, thereby guaranteeing his defeat; and 2. Because the explosion in crime was primarily the fault of blacks, no politician may ever campaign on behalf of "law and order" (in other words, see #1).

Since leftists have long controlled the media and academia, no successful counter-movement has ever been waged against the Democrat Northern Strategy that continues to this day inflaming and relying on racist blacks for their votes and their violence.

If anything, Nixon was a stronger supporter of "civil rights" than Kennedy. When Martin Luther King Jr. was arrested during the 1960 presidential campaign, Nixon wanted to call King's parents in support, but let his advisers talk him out of it. Conversely, Kennedy let his adviser, future senator Harris Wofford, talk him into calling "Daddy" King, which resulted in Kennedy winning the black vote.

In August 1963, the Poor People's March, in which Martin Luther King Jr. would give his famous "I Have a Dream" speech, was almost shut down by the Kennedy Administration without King even getting to speak.

The march had been organized by A. Philip Randolph, the legendary socialist founder of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the nation's first successful black labor union. Randolph was planning on giving a radical leftwing speech written by Stanley Levison, a communist advisor to both Randolph and King, but as historian David Garrow tells in his biography, Bearing the Cross: Martin Luther King, Jr., and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, the President's brother, Attorney General Robert Kennedy, acting in his brother's name, threatened literally to pull the plug on the demonstration, were Randolph to deliver the planned speech. Randolph relented, and gave a considerably toned-down speech.

There is no record, to my knowledge, of Nixon ever censoring a political speech, much less one by a civil rights leader.

As for Southeast Asia, Kennedy got us involved in the War in Vietnam; Nixon got us out.

Kennedy repeatedly jeopardized national security, both as a naval intelligence officer during World War II, and while President, due to his obsessive womanizing. By contrast, even Nixon's sworn enemies have failed to find any evidence of his cheating on his beloved wife, Pat.

And as for the two men's intellectual status, Nixon was clearly superior. The notion that Kennedy was an intellectual was the planned product of a PR campaign engineered and financed by the future president's father, Joseph P. Kennedy Sr. The elder Kennedy got his son's undistinguished, pro-appeasement (echoing the elder Kennedy, who was a Nazi sympathizer) Harvard senior thesis, Why England Slept, published as a book, after having it rewritten by erstwhile family retainer, New York Times columnist Arthur Krock (whom JFK would later stab in the back, using future Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee as his tool of choice); later, the Pulitzer Prize-winning book, Profiles in Courage, was ghostwritten for JFK by another family retainer, Theodore Sorensen, in order to give the young senator the "gravitas" necessary for a run at the White House. Working on behalf of JFK and Joe Kennedy, Arthur Krock campaigned relentlessly on behalf of the fraudulent work, and succeeded in gaining it the 1957 Pulitzer Prize for biography, yet another fraudulent Pulitzer that has never been rescinded.

Nixon, on the other hand, really did write a series of important books on politics. But although Nixon was a true Renaissance man, he was a Republican, and so while the Kennedy hagiography of the press, Hollywood, and academia would slavishly promote the myth of Kennedy as Renaissance man, in the same parties' corresponding demonography of Nixon, the last thing they were going to do was to give Nixon due credit for his very real intellectual accomplishments.

So, where does that leave us? Must we choose between the fictional but pervasive image of JFK as Renaissance man, socialist, and compassionate civil rights supporter, or Garry Wills' revised version, in which Kennedy appears as a ruthless, pathologically lying sociopath?

If we jettison our illusions about the political leaders we support being compassionate, kindly, fatherly (or insert your romanticized cliché of choice) types, and admit that the ruthless, pathologically lying sociopath has been a frequent Oval Office type, that still does not free us from the obligation of weighing the virtues of this sociopath against that one.

While it is ludicrous to speak of a man who inhabited the office for only two years and ten months as a "great president," John F. Kennedy had his moments. He gave us a tax cut of historic dimensions, stood up to the Soviets, founded the Peace Corps, and started the race to the moon that culminated in 1969, with Neil Armstrong's world historical walk.

TCM’s Film Noir of the Week Saturday Night-Sunday Morning at Midnight and 10 a.m. et is Richard Fleischer’s Trapped (1949) with Lloyd Bridges, John Hoyt, Barbara Payton and James Todd.

Film Noir Guide: “Convict Bridges, serving time for counterfeiting, is set free to help the Secret Service find the gang that’s using his old counterfeit plates. Bridges escapes the T-men, foolishly thinking he’s pulled a fast one, but it’s all part of the agents’ plan, as is their surveillance of his girlfriend (Payton).

“Hoyt, who was usually typecast as a gangster or an evil Nazi, is the Treasury agent who goes undercover to gain Bridges’ trust and to nab Todd, the head of the ring. Bridges was always terrific as a bad guy, and though he’s not quite as despicable here as in Try and Get Me, he still elicits his share of hisses.

“Despite its similarities to T-Men, Trapped stands on its own as a suspenseful and well-plotted noir.

David in TN: On Friday night beginning at 8 p.m. ET TCM shows several Noir films, all from the year 1944. The first is Double Indemnity, followed by Laura, Murder My Sweet, Phantom Lady and The Mask of Demetrios.

N.S. As David is fond of pointing out, Richard Fleischer (1917-2006) could pack action into a 67-minute B-movie like nobody’s business. And late in his career, with bigger budgets and longer running times to work with, he helmed some classic movies: Fantastic Voyage (1966), The Boston Strangler (1968), and Soylent Green (1973). He also was guilty of making blaxploitation trash (Mandingo, 1975, which Quentin Tarantino studied for his Ph.D. in black history).

Here's something about Trump's win which has the potential to cost people like myself a lot of money--natural gas.

Since his victory,the price of natgas has spiked from 2.50 to 3.55,a 40% increase in 2 weeks. Why? Trump says he wants to sell more of it to Europe,while biden's policy was to keep that to a minimum. This kept our prices low. Years ago,natgas got up to over 8.00 per cubic foot,which translated to huge winter heating bills.

Incoming cold weather is also affecting the price. All the forecasts for this winter indicated a warmer than normal one for each of the three months of December,January and February. If that's true,prices of natgas will come down,but if wrong--plus Trump's policy--we might be seeing some gigantic increases in our bills very soon. DTE,in my state,never hesitates to pass those higher prices along ASAP.

“I’m a Liberal Who Thinks Immigration Must Be Restricted”: NYT Op-Ed Presents a Cleverly Deceptive Case for a... Nation-Breaking Amnesty! By Nicholas Stix

Numerous friends and colleagues have sent me the January 16 New York Times op-ed by the Center for Immigration Studies’ Jerry Kammer excerpted below. Some of the hardest men I know are going ga-ga over it. Old immigration hands, who were breaking bread with the late John Tanton (1934-2019), may he rest in peace, when I was barely out of diapers. Friends of mine who have seen the border.

When you see that someone has managed to get a piece of the Times’ op-ed page, what should your initial response be? Right. Reach for your wallet with one hand, and your gun with the other. What should your second response be? Fire!

Ask yourself, Would the Times ever run an op-ed by Peter Brimelow on immigration? Did it ever run one by John Tanton?

What do you think of “compromise” on immigration “reform”? What sort of thoughts do claims that there are “11 million” illegal human beings, make that “unauthorized immigrants,” presently residing on American soil inspire in you?

The real numbers of illegal human beings on American soil are between 24 million and 55 million.

A 2018 Yale University study concluded that there are roughly 22 million illegals on American soil. In a 2014 interview I conducted with Fred Elbel, the old immigration hand who runs the Colorado Alliance for Immigration Reform (CAIRCO), Elbel guesstimated that there were already at least 50 million illegals here. The thing about such estimates is that if you overestimate the number of illegal human beings in your country, there’s no cost, but if you underestimate them, it could cost you your country. Kammer writes as if this were 1985, or even 1964, and he’s Ted Kennedy.

Granted, he does recount his experience in 2001 of being present at a soiree in which Left and Right were gleefully conspiring to destroy the country through mass third-world immigration.

He recalls statements made years ago by leading Democrats like Walter Mondale and Hillary Clinton about how impoverished, Third-World immigrants were bringing mass poverty to America.

And he says nice things abut the American working class.

He even notes that in the 1986 INA amnesty, the Open Borders Lobby got what it wanted, but the patriots who compromised with them got nothing.

“This mismatch of political influence, combined with the social and fiscal consequences of a wave of low-skilled immigrants, led me to believe that immigration should be restricted so that its power to invigorate our country is not eclipsed by its potential to harm workers. I think immigration, like capitalism itself, should be regulated in the national interest, not shaped to serve the free-market libertarianism of the right or the post-national humanitarianism of the left.

Here’s where things go off the rails. After Kammer admits that the 1986 compromise was a wholly one-sided deal, and emphasizes his support of the American working class, he calls for…another amnesty dwarfing INA!

This is Lucy-Charlie Brown stuff here.

First of all, the Open Borders Lobby owes all American patriots an immigration moratorium, while the patriots owe the open borders zealots nothing.

The 1986 Reagan (Simpson-Mazzoli) Amnesty has cost white American taxpayers trillions of dollars, and will cost us trillions more in perpetuity; it has cost us the rule of law; and the economic dispossession and legal disenfranchisement of white Americans. We still have ever more chain migration and anchor babies.

“I disagree with some of the center’s [CIS’] hard-line [?!] positions. I favor a generous welcome for those who were brought here illegally as children and support comprehensive reform that would reprise the 1986 amnesty-plus-enforcement compromise. But restrictionists are right to insist that any new reform must guarantee work-site controls. They also make valid points in pushing for a system of legal immigration like the one developed by Canada, which favors people with education and skills.”

But Kammer’s “generous welcome” would go to at least ten million illegals, right off the bat, plus at least another 40 million of their “relatives,” through chain migration, plus millions of anchor babies. In other words, it’s a nation-breaking amnesty.

How could any immigration reformer fall for such a load of hooey?

Kammer’s essay runs 1,444 words, an eternity for an op-ed, much of which he used to build up his credibility as a restrictionist, only to smuggle in the big con. Maybe some of my friends read his thing superficially, after he threw them a bone or two, or even stopped reading at that point.

There are actually some great people at CIS, but I won’t praise them by name, because I don’t want them to get into trouble for being associated with yours truly.

The organization’s bosses, however, Mark Krikorian and Steven Camarota, are notorious for triangulating, in order to get table scraps from leftwing media organizations, but no matter how much they beg for respectability, treason groups like the SPLC will always whip them with the “hate group” label.

We don’t need another mass amnesty, we need a moratorium on all net legal immigration, a wall, and to send the criminals of all ages and their anchor babies home.
