Mark Steyn’s conclusion in a december 20, 2016 column when the news of the day was that “twelve people are dead and forty-eight are injured (at the time of writing) because they attended a Christmas market at Breitscheidplatz in Berlin.” And the BBC headline was “Lorry kills 12 at Christmas market.”

In 2015, I visited a German couple who relocated and were well-paid doing engineering and industrial chemical work here in the U.S.A. I asked them what they thought about the demographic trends back home and they just shrugged and said it was necessary, because the country needed to import workers to keep its economy chugging. Nine years later, I wonder if their thinking has changed.

Who can keep up with counting how many of these Christmas market attacks there have been? As well as all the other violent crime reports year-round.
