NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police say a person standing on a subway platform has been pushed in front of an oncoming train and killed.

Police say it happened at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Times Square subway station.

[Times Square/42nd Street is, with Penn Station at 42nd street, and Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, one of New York City’s three busiest subway hubs. Over 20 years ago, I stopped standing on the edge of the platform, facing the tracks at any station, after a Hispanic guy repeatedly tried to murder me, and another time (at 34th street or Times Square), a crazy-looking, South Asian guy kept lurking around me, apparently with murder in mind.]

They say a woman pushed the individual in front of a southbound No. 1 train.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The person's sex wasn't immediately known.

A suspect was arrested.

No other details were immediately available.
