A Multicultural New Year’s in New York City

By Nicholas Stix

By the way--Happy Goyische New Year! Better late than never, I always say!

At about 9:40 p.m. on January 2, on a Bronx-bound 2 train coming into 34th Street station (Penn Station), a black man about 35 years of age, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and green khaki pants, goes through the car I’m on, shaking the hand, and wishing “Happy New Year! All the best!,” to every black and Hispanic rider he sees.
