"there has been great gnashing of teeth and wringing of hands over Trump's tariffs, but nobody can refute the logic behind them. in fact, what Trump is doing should have been done many decades ago. apparently, former presidents didn't have the temerity to rock economic boats.

"they allowed American manufacturing to relocate to countries such as communist China, where labor worked for a fraction of the wage Americans received. In China and other countries they are also allowed to manufacture things without environmental concerns or other red tape. Who benefits? The ultra rich, of course. The poor and middle class suffered and it has gotten to the point now where average Americans can no longer afford cheap goods flooding in from overseas.

Let the naysayers fret and fume. Trump should stick to his plan. Many nations are coming to the bargaining table and Trump will hammer out trade deals that are fairer to the US.

Communist China may not want to genuflect to Trump because they are concerned about 'saving face,' but a collapsing economy would be a threat to the communist's power. Eventually they will bend the knee and cut a deal.

SARAH PALIN LOSES MALICE CASE VS THE NY TIMES

(breitbart)Former Republican Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has lost her defamation suit retrial against the New York Times.

The federal jury ruled after just two hours of deliberation on Tuesday that the New York Times was not guilty of libel when it falsely linked her to a 2011 mass shooting in an editorial it published in 2017. Per Axios:

Throughout this trial and the original 2022 trial, the Times asserted that the inaccurate link made in the editorial was a mistake.

It issued a formal correction of the piece, titled “America’s Lethal Politics,” two days after it was originally published on June 14.

Palin and her legal team argued that the Times and its former editorial page editor James Bennet for libel used “actual malice” in publishing the editorial.

A New York Times spokesperson said in a statement that the jury’s ruling proves “publishers are not liable for honest mistakes.”

“We want to thank the jurors for their careful deliberations. The decision reaffirms an important tenet of American law: publishers are not liable for honest mistakes,” the spokesperson said.

As Breitbart News reported in February 2022, U.S. Judge Jed S. Rakoff, a Bill Clinton appointee to the federal bench in the Southern District of New York, dismissed the case even as jurors were still deliberating over the verdict:

Palin sued the Times over a 2017 editorial in which it said that she had inspired the 2011 mass shooting in Tucson, Arizona. Judge Rakoff initially dismissed the case, but it was revived by a federal appeals court. After the presentation of arguments in initial motions, Rakoff decided that Palin had enough evidence to allow the case to go to trial — a rarity in defamation suits by public figures against the media, since the standard of proving “actual malice” is usually too high for plaintiffs to clear.

Moreover, Rakoff sent the case to the jury after closing arguments last week. But on Monday, as NPR’s David Folkenflik reported, he had second thoughts, and said Palin failed to meet the “actual malice” standard because of the Times‘s correction, and then-editorial page editor James Bennet’s contrition.

The jury ruled against Palin at the time only after it learned of Rakoff’s decision to dismiss the case, which resulted in a three-judge panel of the Second Circuit — including two George W. Bush appointees and one Donald Trump appointee — ruling that Rakoff acted improperly and demanded a retrial.

The 1964 Supreme Court decision New York Times v. Sullivan set a high bar for the malice standard, which said that publishers cannot be held liable for false statements so long as they were not done knowingly or recklessly.

Leaving the court room, Palin said she does not know if she plans to appeal the case.

(ZH)A federal judge delivered a stinging rebuke to the Trump administration on Tuesday, halting its attempt to shutter Voice of America (VOA) and its sister networks, calling the move likely unlawful and "hard to fathom."



U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth, a Reagan appointee, indefinitely blocked efforts to wind down the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) - VOA’s parent agency, and ordered the full restoration of its operations and workforce.

(GRA:Reagan judge? He must be 100 by now and like biden,a dementia metamorphosisized commie.)

Lamberth didn’t mince words, writing in his ruling that the administration “silenced VOA, canceled funds to affiliate Networks, and shut down all transmitters at foreign service stations abroad,” with no discernible legal process.


"It is hard to fathom a more straightforward display of arbitrary and capricious actions than the Defendants’ actions here," Lamberth continued.

“In short, the defendants had no method or approach towards shutting down USAGM that this Court can discern,” the judge declared. “They took immediate and drastic action… without regard to the harm inflicted on employees, contractors, journalists, and media consumers around the world.”

The judge also ordered USAGM to return employees who were placed on leave and prohibited further staff reductions while the lawsuit proceeds. He further directed continued funding for the agency’s international broadcasting efforts, emphasizing that the silencing of USAGM undermines both journalistic integrity and U.S. strategic interests.



Lamberth’s ruling stopped short of reinstating all operations. While VOA and its major affiliates, Radio Free Asia and Middle Eastern Broadcast Network, were covered by the injunction, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty and the Open Technology Fund were left out due to related ongoing litigation.

The decision delivers a major blow to the administration’s effort to rein in the global media outlet. Lamberth warned that financial harm posed by the shutdown wasn’t just a budgetary issue, it threatened the “very existence” of the network and the safety of its journalists.

I fully support the use of tariffs to protect our American workers. China should have been collapsed a long time ago when they were less powerful. The danger today is the classic way for administrations to get out of trouble is to start a war. Thanks to the immorality and stupidity of aborting baby girls, China now has an enormous number of young males who will never be able to have a wife. What to do with these frustrated young men? Start a war of course.

(CNN)Dick Durbin, the longtime second-ranking Democrat in the Senate, announced plans to retire at the end of next year, setting off a succession scramble to take his powerful leadership spot in the chamber and a likely crowded primary in Illinois for the seat.

“The decision of whether to run for re-election has not been easy. I truly love the job of being a United States Senator. But in my heart, I know it’s time to pass the torch,” Durbin announced Wednesday. “So, I am announcing today that I will not be seeking re-election at the end of my term.”

Durbin, 80, had long been expected to step aside, having served in the chamber since 1996 and as the Senate Democratic whip since 2005, a position that has given him influence with the party’s leader as the chief deputy for the late Harry Reid and currently with Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer. Durbin becomes the fourth Senate Democrat to announce plans to retire rather than run for reelection next year.


Durbin’s retirement decision opens up a number of key positions, including on the Senate Judiciary Committee where he served as chairman in the last Congress, having presided over the confirmation of Ketanji Brown (Jumanji Ubange)Jackson, the first black woman to serve on the Supreme Court, and where he has long championed legislation to help the undocumented migrants brought to the US as children known as Dreamers.

(nypost)WASHINGTON — President Trump endorsed giving new mothers a financial reward Tuesday after a report surfaced that the White House was considering handing out up to $5,000 per delivery to reverse the decline in US birth rates.

“Sounds like a good idea to me,” Trump told The Post in the Oval Office when asked about the reported cash incentive to get more Americans to have kids.

The adminstration’s deliberations over the so-called “baby bonus” were first reported Monday by the New York Times.

Policy experts and advocates for growing the birth rate have been meeting with White House aides to come up with plans to convince more women to have larger families, four people who have been part of the meetings told the outlet.


One plan would give a $5,000 incentive to new moms, while another would see that 30% of all Fulbright scholarships be given to applicants who are married or have children.

Another option being considered would have the government fund programs to educate women on their menstrual cycles so they can know when they are ovulating and able to conceive, according to the report.



Birth rates in the US have long been slipping, hitting a new low in 2023 with just under 3.6 million babies born that year — making the typical American family with 2.5 children a thing of the past. In 2023, American families had just under two children on average.

The total number of babies born was also about 76,000 less than 2022 and the lowest one-year tally since 1979.

GRA:This morning,the dem counter-complaints came from the coven on "The(Witches')View",which except for borderline dem Allissa Farrah Griffin,accused Trump of targeting Whites to procreate at a higher rate--which is true. The GOVERNMENT ALREADY pays blacks and spics to have kids--with welfare and other programs. The coven didn't mention that. Why would Trump give minorities bonus cash to pop out more criminals?

Of course it's for Whites--that's how you REALLY make America Great Again--more Whites,less minorities.

The crazy coven stressed that they wanted the money to ALSO go to lesbos and queers who "make" their babies by abnormal means. Who needs those offspring either?
