Three Johnsons Shot in Orlando at 4 a.m. Today; One Dead; Former Jets RB Chris Johnson Wounded

Multiple friends just sent this one in, with one remarking, “Perps maybe ‘wacists’ angry about the 50th anniversary of Selma…but maybe not.”

You know what they say; “Nothing good happens at four in the morning!”

Commenters at USA Today are getting their jollies, singing, “I’d like to buy the world a coke.”

The shocking part of the story for me wasn’t an NFL player being in the middle of a violent crime, that’s routine, but that it identified Chris Johnson as a “Former Jets RB.”

Yet another legacy of Rex Ryan: Getting one of the league’s best backs, and wasting his talents and the fortune the team paid him.

My hunch: This was a hit on DOJ, and the other Johnsons were collateral damage. The thing is, whereas Mafia hitmen have a tradition of trying to minimize collateral damage, black killers gory in it, and make no effort to minimize it. The Mafia guys are professionals, while blacks revel in their amateurism. I guess they’re just “keepin’ it real.”

Former Tennessee Titans and New York Jets running back Chris Johnson was shot in the shoulder Sunday morning in Orlando, Fla., according to a release from the Orange County Sheriff's office.

Deputies responded to the shooting call at 4:09 a.m. Sunday and found the driver of a Jeep, Dreekius Oricko Johnson, dead and two other men with gunshot wounds.

The victims, Chris Johnson and Reggie Johnson told police that an unknown vehicle pulled up at a red light and opened fire into the Jeep, leaving Dreekius Oricko Johnson, 28, dead.

Chris Johnson, an Orlando native, and Reggie Johnson were taken to a hospital and were reported to be in stable condition. There was no listing of the relationship of the victims.

The investigation into the shooting was ongoing and no arrests have been made yet, according to the report.

The Jets released Johnson in mid-February declining to pick up the 29-year-old running back's $500,000 option bonus as part of the two-year, $8-million contract Johnson signed with the club last April.

Last season was Chris Johnson's first with the Jets and marked the first time in his seven-season career that Johnson failed to reach 1,000 yards rushing as he finished with a career-low 663 rush yards. In January, Johnson was arrested in Orlando and charged with the open carrying of a firearm, a second-degree misdemeanor.

In 2009 for the Titans, Johnson had over 2000 yards rushing. That year his rushing and receiving yards totaled 2509, an NFL record.

He turns 30 this year and for a running back of his type, that is usually hitting a wall.

True, but Rex Ryan completely wasted him, which may have cost the Jets a victory or two.

It always kind of sticks in the craw to go over lists of "mass" or "spree" shooters and never include black gang shooters. From what I've seen in the media, police and society in general they try to apply the gang shooter label every time a shooter is black, as soon as that association is made it's difficult to change the perception that it is a "gang" shooting and therefore different than "normal" mass shooters.

It's ture though, black gang shooters love to "spray" bullets into crowds. The old "mafiosi" never did that, or at least I can't recall any of those kinds of shooting being that way, maybe someone could find an example of that happening but if it did it was a rarity and clearly wasn't something they normally would do, or felt pride in doing.
One has to wonder at what point does a gangbanger shooter cross over into a mass or spree shooter. Holding a gun in hand can convey a sense of power that can magnify underlying homocidal rages, when you start shooting at men, women, children at random knowing full well some of those bullets will find innocent people, just how different are you than any other mass shooter? None of the news reports I saw said whether the three Johnsons were related or not.
