Cong. Michael McCaul (R-TX), the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, just told Fox News’ Brett Baier that he had been informed that the bombs contained ball bearings. The significance of that is that ball bearings are routinely used in improvised explosive devices (IEDs), to increase their lethality.

Cong. McCaul: “Improvised explosive devices have touched all of our lives,” due to “the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
