"the supreme court just heard Louisiana v. Calais, a case that could end 60 years of race-based gerrymandering.

“for decades, unelected judges forced states to draw 'majority-black' districts — effectively punishing White voters and engineering democrat power.

“this wasn’t civil rights. it was political racism dressed up as law.”

“now, chief justice Roberts and the conservative majority are ready to dismantle it — a move that could cost democrats 19 House seats and end their map-rigging game for good.

“history is about to flip.

Just the other day I was listening to NPR and they did a story on how the Republicans were redrawing districts to "break up" black majority districts in order to manipulate elections. They led off with how redrawing of districts started out as a civil rights issue so black people could have some political power but not once did the word gerrymandering come up for that monkey business. But the word came right up when they talked about Republicans trying to put things back the way they should be. That's how these people think, when it's negroes getting power over Whitey, it's righteous and holy.

Threading a needle on this one. So many risks. That Roberts won't reprise his obamacare treachery and rewrite the '64 civil rights act or the help-america-vote act etc. That Amy Coney Papist doesn't have one of her anti-logical emotional feminine lapses. That no rogue strand of Gorsuch's libertarian DNA undergoes a last-minute reinterpretative mutation that feeds on of one out-of-context sentence from a Thomas Paine pamphlet.

On the other, imagine if they do the right thing - and it sets off George Floyd Protests 2.0 - and Douglass Mackey posts a meme urging protestors to march across the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Hey, AL DOT, you might want to recheck the weight limit on that Selma bridge, too, before the crowds arrive.
