Possible Hate Crime Hoax in Hammond, Indiana

The following item is only 84 words long, including its title, yet it contains at least four typos. But it serves its purpose of promoting what smells like a race hoax.
 

Family finds racists [sic] graffiti on shed of new home

HAMMOND, Ind. – Police in Hammond, Ind. are investigating reports of racist graffiti painted on a shed of a home belonging to an African-American family.

The family noticed the graffiti late last night. They had moved in just a few days earlier and had only spent one night n [sic] their new home . [sic]

The graffiti involved offensive language and a swastika.

The landlord has since pained [sic] over the graffiti.

Police are investigating.

Almost without fail these things are hoaxes. The media is always a willing partner in pretending it might be real and giving it coverage that might otherwise be used reporting real crime.
