"the person of interest in the deadly mass shooting at Brown university has been ID’d as a 24-year-old man from wisconsin who served in the army and supported statehood for D.C., law-enforcement sources told the post.

He's a liberal.
Only liberals support D.C. statehood.
My parents lived in Southeast Washington, D.C.
Statehood was never on their minds when they lived in Southeast.
Never.
Ditto my other relatives who lived in D.C.
Statehood is considered a "civil rights" issue in many circles.
"Taxation Without Representation," is the saying on Washington, D.C. license plates. https://boundarystones.weta.org/2020/02/12/washington-taxation-without-representation-history
Like one of my brothers said some time ago:
"If D.C. residents want statehood, then they can always move to Maryland or Virginia."
Anyways, It's not like most current residents of D.C. are natives.

According to reports,"a normal person with good conduct medals in the service."
D.C. statehood is not something you flip your lid about. Maybe as simple as a split-up(with someone going to Brown?)or job loss. Maybe we'll find what made him go nuts.
