Paul Harvey (if he were around today) commenting on Bethany Magee’s torching on a chicago subway
(GRA) Just a comment about the host's speaking style. Hearing the Actual Justice Warrior rat-a-tat-tat the show at such a frantic pace, makes me wish Paul Harvey was still around to give the story HIS booming, dramatic voice.
"Here,in CHI-CA-GO, a woman was set on fire, on a CTA train recently—of which, the crime is OBVIOUS. But there were TWO crimes committed in this instance, against 26-year-old, Bethany MaGee—YES, two criminal acts.
“There was a crime of commission—by the black perpetrator—and a crime of O-MISSION—by the people in government—who are supposed to protect the citizens of this once fine city. The young, White woman—Bethany MaGee—who had IN-FLICT-ED on her, severe burns on over 60% of her body—FOR NO REASON—will never be happy again. She'll never be HEALTHY again and WHY?
Because the bLACK mayor of Chicago committed a crime—of enabling black career thug, Lawrence Reed, to be out on that CTA train with an innocent woman and a gas can—which he doused on her—and then set her on fire seconds later.
“Brandon Johnson may have just as well set the White woman on fire himself. I call for his arrest. But in lieu of arrest—his resignation seems appropriate.
Paul Harvey...good day.

"If I Were the Devil by Paul Harvey - Original 1965 Broadcast"

"In 1965, Mr. Harvey broadcast 'If I Were the Devil.' Although it has been over a half a century since the broadcast, Mr. Harvey's words describe our current times well. I've had several comments that this was created with AI. This is absolutely not true. Mr. Harvey recorded this in 1965. I am in no way a participant of, or in favor of artificial intelligence to think for me or to create content for me."
If I were the Devil
If I were the Prince of Darkness, I'd want to engulf the whole world in darkness,
and I’d have a third of it's real estate, and four-fifths of it's population,
but I wouldn't be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree – thee.
So I'd set about however necessary to take over the United States.
I’d subvert the churches first.
I'd begin with a campaign of whispers with the wisdom of a serpent.
I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve, "Do as you please."
To the young I would whisper that the Bible is a myth.
I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around.
I would confide that what's bad is good and what's good is square.
And the old, I would teach to pray after me, "Our Father – which art in Washington."
And then I'd get organized.
I'd educate authors in how to make Lurid literature exciting so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting.
I'd threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa.
I'd peddle narcotics to whom I could.
I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction.
I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.
If I were the Devil I'd soon have families at war with themselves, churches at war with themselves, and nations at war with themselves, until each in it’s turn was consumed.
And with promises of higher ratings, I'd have mesmerizing media fanning the flames.
If I were the Devil I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, but neglect to discipline emotions, just let those run wild until before you knew it you'd have to have drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.
Within a decade I'd have prisons overflowing.
I’d have judges promoting pornography.
Soon I could evict God from the courthouse, then from the schoolhouse, and then from the houses of congress.
And in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion and deify science.
I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls and church money.
If I were the Devil I'd make the symbol of Easter an egg, and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.
If I were the Devil I would take from those who have and give to those who wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious.
What will you bet I could get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich.
I would caution against extremes, in hard work, in patriotism, in moral conduct.
I would convince the young that marriage is old fashioned, that swinging is more fun, that what you see on TV is the way to be.
And thus, I could undress you in public and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure.
In other words, if I were the Devil...
I'd just keep right on doing what he's doing.

How in 1965 did he know about "priests misusing boys" and "states to promote gambling"?
Sounds like him,but 1965?

Pretty amazing. I confess to being totally unfamiliar with him; perhaps he wasn't mentioned in print often because of his conservatism (a friend of McCarthy and J. Edgar Hoover- the "intelligentsia" must have hated him!).
Thanks for the post!

Somewhat related:
From a 1965 article about another conservative firebrand, TV talk show host Joe Pyne- Ranting about topless bathing suits, he said that "Men who design women's fashions generally hate women"- interesting because in a book of interviews I read long ago about old-time Hollywood, someone working in a production capacity (in the 30s-40s) said that "gays ruined Hollywood," specifically in the way they dressed women. The more unpalatable aspects of golden-age "glamor"- grotesque overdone makeup, wide mannish shoulders, crazy hats- were either created on purpose to make women look awful, or were how gays saw themselves. And I know damn well from the many gays I worked with that they do indeed hate women (unless the women are fawning over them).
Mr. Harvey and Mr. Pyne were both rather prescient.

He was on the radio twice a day for decades. Noon time news(15 minutes) and then between 3 and 5 pm--"The Rest of the Story".
Quite a voice. I believe he was on Donahue back when--maybe that's on YouTube.
Good day!!!

I looked for a Donahue show, but only found a half hour of him with Larry King in 1988. The first ten minutes(out of 25)I viewed wasn't very exciting--he's an "awww shucks" kind of person--which is fine.

Whomever hired the queers in 1930s and 40s Hollywood must have been fruits themselves.

"The Rest of the Story" was a 5 or 10 minute follow-up of previously reported story. It took place in that 2 hour time span of 3-5 pm on abc radio,I believe. Cosell and Paul Harvey on the same network, lol.

There was always a gay cult in Hollywood. People in power tend to be corrupt, and acting always attracted "off" types (being a form of exhibitionism), so... A perfect marriage. And when they discovered they could sell the likes of Valentino or Ramon Novarro to the public (especially to women, who are always at the forefront of societal corruption), the die was cast.

Guess what-

Glad I thought of it- archive.org is the go-to place for old radio shows (and other goodies)!
