(ktla)Prized Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki says in an Instagram post he intends to sign with the World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers.
A 23-year-old right-hander whose fastball tops 100 mph, Sasaki will join fellow Japanese stars Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto in a move many baseball executives have long expected.
“I have signed a minor contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers,” Sasaki’s post said, in Japanese(GRA:Of course). “It was a very difficult decision, but I will do my best I can feel this was a correct decision, once I look back on my life as a baseball player. At my news conference for joining the club, I hope to wear my Dodgers uniform, feeling gratitude for all those who have supported me.”
Los Angeles has up to $5,146,200 available in its international signing bonus pool, though the Dodgers could make trades in the next week to increase the amount by up to 60%.
Sasaki was 10-5 with a 2.35 ERA in 18 games last year, striking out 129 hitters in 111 innings during a season limited by shoulder inflammation. He went 7-4 with a 1.78 ERA in 15 starts in 2023, when he had an oblique injury. He has a 29-15 career record with a 2.10 ERA over four seasons with the Marines and pitched a perfect game against Orix in April 2022.
GRA:MLB will never do it,but there needs to be quotas for each club on the number of foreigners they can have on major league rosters. With all the non-Whites these days,Harry Caray would never have been able to pronounce any of the mex and jap names after the third beer(inning). This is not the baseball I followed from 1968 to 2010--it is not American baseball anymore.

Law enforcement agencies on Friday released photos and a video of the new tunnel. They show wooden beams sustaining the roof of the structure and planks shoring up the sides. The dirt where investigators walk looks well-packed.
"This was not being used to bring regular "immigrants"(invaders)in,said one source,"but higher paying customers--Chinese nationalists and terrorists."

A map of the underground tunnel put together from information provided by Mexican sources shows it starts next to a six-lane highway in Juarez, goes under the river levee and under the Rio Grande itself.
Manjarrez said such a structure is not built using “a pick and shovel,” but construction machines working for a length of time in a highly visible area with lots of traffic. Video taken by Border Report news partner ProVideo shows the entrance to the tunnel right next to Avenida Perez Serna being guarded by Mexican police and soldiers on Monday.
“I find it hard to believe someone on the Mexican side did not know of a tunnel. There are too many logistical things that have to occur. One is, you gotta bring the equipment in. You may have started with a pick and shovel or vertical drilling, but ultimately you have to bring in equipment,” Manjarrez said. “You are bringing a tremendous amount of dirt, rocks, things of that nature. You gotta put that somewhere.."
