Some dimwit recently commented that Drew Barrymore is MUCH better known these days than her once-famous grandfather, the Great J.B.-actually, that's probably the tragic truth.

Dear NS, could you possibly "highlight" the post I made recently about the complete WB cartoons being available at archive.org.? Maybe SOMEONE will show some interest in it! Here's the link again:

Beats watching garbage!

The response is appreciated! Kids who grew up with these cartoons were exposed to classical music, opera, pop music of the 20s, 30s, and 40s, old radio stars and movie stars, a general idea of different historical eras and famous figures, lots of stuff about WW2, and more... All this presumably absent from most contemporary programs of ANY kind. We may not have understood all the references, but we did absorb this stuff!
It is a treasure, and needs to be preserved for future generations; as I mentioned before, Warners will NEVER release these as a collection. It's a great gift for anyone with children or grandchildren (though the pre-code cartoons, from the jazz-and-booze Prohibition era, CAN be somewhat inappropriate for young'uns!) The 4k videodownloader I recommended works great, if you have the time and patience...

The definitive reference book:

Oh, and if you've never seen the PVT. SNAFU cartoons, made strictly for captive military audiences, check those out, they're risque and priceless (Dr. Seuss wrote a few of them!)-
