(GRA) In a somewhat surprising move, the New York Jets fired Aaron Glenn as their head coach, only seven days after signing him to a five-year contract.
“Let's face it,” said owner Woody Johnson, “we hire lousy head coaches. Why wait three, four, or five years to do the inevitable when we can get rid of him now and save time—I’m not getting any younger, you know,” said the 77-year old Johnson.
New GM, Darren Mougey, was also terminated, “for hiring Glenn,” noted the grim Johnson. “We kill two birds with one stone this way—an incompetent coach and the GM who hired him.”
Johnson said he would scour other available candidates in both job positions and promised “to choose the worst one.”
