[Previously, at WEJB/NSU:

“Over 15 Months Ago, the S.F. Examiner Published a Story on Racist Black-on-Asian Attacks, but There are No Comments; How Could That be?”]

I did a Google search regarding the Oakland death you referred to and found this story from the San Francisco CBS outlet. It concerns the beating death of an Asian man, Tian Sheng Yu, by “two young men.” Lavonte Drummer and Dominic Davis were ordered to stand trial after a preliminary hearing in February. This was eight months ago.

Yu died five days after being punched and knocked to the ground. It took place around 3 p.m. on April 16, 2010. Yu and his son had driven to Oakland to go to a pawn shop.

According to testimony, Drummer punched the younger Yu after he had taken less than 10 steps from Yu’s car. Judge Joan Cartwright said Drummer “set this whole tragedy into motion” because he “felt like hitting someone.”

According to the prosecutor, Drummer and Davis both had a mindset of “We’re going to mess someone up today.”

Drummer’s defense attorney, Adante Pointer, said Yu caused the incident by waving and pointing his hands. The blows inflicted by the accused “were not unprovoked,” he said. According to Pointer, “All parties bear some responsibility for what happened.”

There was a video of the incident played in court. Judge Cartwright said Davis punched Yu first, and Drummer hit him seconds later. Yu fell to the ground and fractured his skull.

The defense attorneys said Drummer and Davis didn’t think they would cause Yu’s death by punching him. They argued the charge should be manslaughter at most, but Judge Cartwright ordered them to stand trial for murder. She rejected the defense claim that the older man was partly to blame.

This story does have 12 comments, many of them pointed.

N.S.: In this video interview, Oakland PD Chief Anthony Batts engages in some PR work. Some of the things he says are laudatory, such as his refusal to excuse the crime and his solicitude for crime victims; however, he reserves the epithet “racist” for online comments, which likely came from whites, and never applies it to the killers, or to black Oaklanders in general.

Of course, there has been no talk, let alone charges of a racially-motivated hate crime.

To Frank:

Thanks for the great, informative link about this guy, ding=BATTS. I wonder how long it took the all-knowing powers-that-be to be snowed by him in his interview and application process for Oakland’s Top Cop job. Wasn’t Ron (Red) Dellums still the mayor when this “questionable candidate” was being considered/pushed for the “politically correct” promotion??

I agree, many of them seem to be on a power trip and like to intimidate people they feel are weaker then them. They all like to portray themselves as former slaves eventhough there are no slaves or masters left alive anymore. They really need to get over it. And the reason people treat them like animals is that they act like animals.

Looks like these punks were successful in their quest to “mess someone up”.
Looks like they messed themselves too. Hope it’s for a long tome. Murder 1. No parole – ever!

What a childish statement:

But Drummer’s attorney, Adante Pointer, said that Yu “confronted” Drummer and Davis and waived and pointed his hands. The blows inflicted by the two young men “were not unprovoked,” he said.

So according to Mr. Pointer, if I speak to somebody waiving and pointing my hands, he/she has the right to knock me down.

Furthermore, the father apparently did not have the right to ask those braindead creatures, why they’ve beaten his son.

This is like a kindergarten.

Regarding these 2 thugs, I can’t see how their lawyer sleeps at night. Regarding Chief Batts, he’s another one of Ron Dellums’ string of mayoral “failures.” Oakland can only get better.
