Obscure, failed, indie fimmaker’s death, at 97, received an obit from the new york times, but no mention of his death at imdb.com

How’s this for a race hoax? The director of Nothing but a Man (1964) dead at 97- the nyt claims it was a “lost” movie!

https://www.removepaywall.com/search?url=https://www.nytimes.com/2025/05/24/movies/michael-roemer-dead.html

The movie was “gone” after its initial unsuccessful release? Funny, it was shown on TV with some fanfare in the late 60s-early 70s, at least here in NY, and later came out on home video as well. I wouldn't have expected it to be a favorite on The Late Late Show down in Dixie, but presumably it made the rounds in most urban centers.

The article’s race-baiting slant is absurd. The movie was a well-done propaganda piece, but Roger Corman made a better one called The Intruder (1961), which really was “lost” for a time, and NEVER played on TV. (Both that movie and NBAM failed in the theatres because the South refused to play them. Roger said it was his only film that lost money!)

The other movie mentioned, The Plot Against Harry, was on cable after it was “rediscovered”- and it wasn’t very good (in my estimation). Per the nyt, the guy was an unsung genius. I really don’t want to see his other films, so I'll never know.

Never heard of Roemer, but I read his obit. He considered failure a success. Well it did get him to 97.

N.S.: In the wee small hours last night, I checked Michael Roemer’s imdb.com page, but there was no mention of his death. It said, “Born January 1, 1928,” but cited no date of his death.

As for Nothing but a Man, I have yet to see it, but just from reading its blurb, I know that it’s one big blood libel.

“A black man and his school-teacher wife face discriminatory challenges in 1960s America.”

And I know a thing or two about its star, Ivan Dixon. One of my contributors (RM?) wrote that Dixon had threatened to murder White people, whereupon his career flourished. Adjusted for inflation, he made millions of dollars as an actor and director, including a longtime regular role on the hit TV comedy, Hogan’s Heroes.

I was unable to find the item here about Dixon, because my google Gauleiter has buried it.

Ivan Dixon was the one who said he admired Joe Louis because he liked to see a black guy beat up white guys. Dixon later directed THE SPOOK WHO SAT BY THE DOOR (1973), about blacks joining the CIA so they could learn revolutionary tactics. Per Wikipedia, "Mr. Dixon told The Times that the movie had tried only to depict black anger, not to suggest armed revolt as a solution."
The guy who actually threatened violence was Hari Rhodes, at the time a supporting actor in the hit series DAKTARI. His wife sent a letter to TV GUIDE after his profile appeared, saying he really didn't mean it! I'm sure he kept working after the series ended, but never had a big success.

Didn't you know its St. Floyd day? Local news stations are going on and on about Floyd because it's the anniversary of the day he OD'd. We've got demonstrations going on in pdx, negroes crying about that dead criminal drug addict and plenty of liberal Whites trying to out virtue signal each other. NPR won't shut up about him.
It's coming, they want a special day for him, racist blacks and woke Whites will accuse anyone who resists of being racist.

FBI revised it's crime stats from 2022, but did it "quietly", no explanation as to why:

https://www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2024/10/16/stealth_edit_fbi_quietly_revises_violent_crime_stats_1065396.html

From the article:

When the FBI originally released the “final” crime data for 2022 in September 2023, it reported that the nation’s violent crime rate fell by 2.1%. This quickly became, and remains, a Democratic Party talking point to counter Donald Trump’s claims of soaring crime.

But the FBI has quietly revised those numbers, releasing new data that shows violent crime increased in 2022 by 4.5%. The new data includes thousands more murders, rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults.

By coincidence I put on the local NPR radio station for the first time in a while, and sure enough, at the top of the hour, some whore comes on and says, "It's a sad day today, the fifth anniversary of the 'murder' of G. Floyd..." And this for Memorial Day, no less. Well, off it went- the only outlet left that plays classical (or alternative) music, what a damn shame! Sometimes I think the "arts" are a deal with the Devil...
