Billy Joel’s brain isn’t working too well—he cancels tour through july (probably longer)
“(cbs noise) Billy Joel has canceled his upcoming tour, including all of his scheduled concerts up to early july 2026, after a recent health diagnosis.
The iconic singer announced Friday he was diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus, which has been exacerbated by recent performances, leading to problems with his hearing, vision and balance.
"I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding," Joel said in a statement.
Joel, 76, was advised by his doctor to refrain from performing as he undergoes physical therapy, according to the statement.
In the meantime, Joel is looking forward to when he can return to the stage, the statement said.
Fans who had purchased tickets to an upcoming performance will be automatically refunded, according to the statement.
Joel had been scheduled to perform in Milwaukee in April, but that show was postponed. He was set to kick off a series of performances starting in July in Pittsburgh.
The tour was supposed to include eight performances that had been rescheduled to either later this year or next year, ending July 3, 2026.
Most of the performances were supposed to be in the U.S., but Joel was also scheduled to perform in Canada and the U.K.
Legendary musicians [sic] Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart and Sting were expected to join Joel at different points on the tour.
GRA: abc noise says, “it’s treatable and reversible,” but from what I’ve read about hydrocephalus over the years, I wouldn’t get my hopes up. For his sake, I wish him a full recovery.

Billy Joel has been drinking himself to death for years. Can booze cause this?
In an Afterlife Hollywood Western, Richard Boone encounters Stevie Nicks and exclaims, “I thought you was dead,” to which she responds, “Not hardly,” before blowing him away,” but not really killing him, because it’s not an Alec “Killer” Baldwin production, not to mention that Boone, aka “Paladin,” was already dead.

Mmmm,Stevie Nicks(circa 1975). She should be dead though and Keith Richards too and many more. I didn't know Joel was a boozer, but why not,I guess? He can't complain about having a discombobulated brain after a life of excess enjoyment(is there such a thing?)with Christie Brinkley,Elle McPherson etc. Quite a run.

I think I posted a comment on his 2024 "comeback" song,"Turn the Lights Back On"--a great piece of songwriting that he released last year--with an excellent video. To come up with a classic,up to his standards of 1978-1989--at 75/76 years old--was shocking and enjoyable. I just watched it again and it's a 10.

"There's an old man sitting inside of me / Making love to his tonic and gin."
Noted in the story, "The iconic singer".
Too bad in any event. Wayne Allyn Root jumped right to a covid vaxx theory.
Righto about Stevie Nicks, age 76. Then again, Marianne Faithfull recently went won't-be-down-for-breakfast at a ripe old 78, which was surprisingly old when you consider her life story including with the Stones, etc.
Somehow their DNA kept them going, repairing the drug damage? Or maybe long term drug use doesn't kill these people as much as we think it should--if they keep from overdosing. Booze gets the liver and brain cells, but there are a lot of 60s junkies still twitching a muscle every now and then and even going on tours in their 70s and 80s. Amazing.
