Suzanne Somers, John Ritter, … and Jerry Lewis?

[“The Big C takes Suzanne Somers at 76/77, after 23-year-long struggle.”]

Somers got fired when she demanded to be paid the same as John Ritter. She had to be delusional to believe she was in his league as a comedic actor. Three’s Company was a dumb show but Ritter’s talent elevated it to a pretty funny show. When Somers left, the show didn’t miss a beat. If Ritter had left, it would have been dead in the water.

Always liked Ritter. Like he showed in Three’s Company, he had a way of taking average material and making it funnier than it had a right to be. Funny thing is, his style of physical humor was very similar to Jerry Lewis, someone he cited as an influence, but I don’t find Jerry Lewis to be funny at all. For some reason I find John Ritter doing Jerry Lewis shtick to be hilarious, but have no idea why that is.

Jerry Lewis minus the goofy, baby voice is John Ritter?I'd have to say Jim Carrey is closer to that description, but it doesn't matter what I think, all were pretty talented.

Frasier reboot(contrary to critic's reviews)is pretty good.

GRA:Frasier was one of the great shows in tv history,a stalwart cast, sophisticated, yet often slapstick, farcical comedy, mixed in with top notch writing.

Twenty two years later.Kelsey Grammar is back to bring us a pretty darn good first episode(available on YouTube).

Since I don't subscribe to Paramount TV,I eagerly awaited overnight reviews last Friday, hoping for positive reports.Instead,USA Today savaged the show, calling it,"totally devoid of laughs."NY Times agreed almost word for word.Only a couple media sites gave the show a passing grade.

Today, however, the first new "Frasier" episode popped up on YouTube--I watched it--and I could not disagree more with the idiot reviewers mentioned above:It is a warm, charming and funny show--with much of the same style of comedy as the original. Many episodes of the 90s "Frasier" revolved around misunderstandings taken to even greater misunderstandings and much hilarity.

Here in the reboot premier,Frasier, attempting to revive a relationship with his son,Frederick, appears at his apartment, out of the blue and immediately thinks his son is the father of a baby boy and is lying about it.At the end,Frasier solves everyone's(including the fake girlfriend and baby)problems with a wave of his hand--all,I thought--done with much aplomb and laughs.

4**** out of 5
(One black character-non essential)

"She had to be delusional to believe she was in his league as a comedic actor."

Or maybe one had to be delusional to see Ritter as a comedic actor.

Three's Company was unfunny schlock. Akin to Laverne & Shirley.

While not ostensibly a comedy, Charlie's Angels was the same, schlock. A lot of crap made it onto TV in the late 70s, riding on the coattails of successful and genuinely worthwhile shows like MTM, Bob Newhart, and a few others.

But sadly that 90% white country does not exist anymore.

Ritter actually started out as a standup comedian, I remember watching some of his early standup, he was quite good at improvising and had a natural on stage presence. In my opinion his comedic skills transitioned very well into acting. Maybe you don't like him but you now what they say about opinions...like a certain body part that shall remain unnamed, everybody's got one. Even you
