Lewis and his then-13-year-old cousin-wife, Myra Gale Brown, also known as Myra Lewis Williams. The couple eloped in December, 1957. She was the musician's second cousin. However, the union was reportedly illegal, as Lewis was still married to his first wife, thus making him guilty of bigamy, like the Kenyan father of the John Doe calling himself "Barack Hussein Obama."

Amazing he survived as long as he did. Even by rock-star standards, he lived a wild and self-destructive lifestyle.

For me, there was always something real, authentic, and earthy about the way he sang and played, elements that seem to be absent in modern music. Here is an upload of an entire concert he played in Bristol back in 1983 (see below).

Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis—the original four of Sun records, I believe.

A long time ago—when we had a pretty good country—a lot of talent.

We have twice the number of people now, and one-tenth the talent—not just music, but movies, TV, comedians.

What happened—any theories?

The man had talent, but you could tell he was a little off his rocker too.The video is a good performance--capturing the essence of Jerry Lee Lewis--in all his glory.
