More than anything, the higher median income of Asians, a category I assume includes South Asians, i.e. Indians, as well as e.g. Chinese, reflects the fact a disproportionate number of such households (compared to Whites) have two incomes with both working in tech, where salaries are high -- many came either via H-1B or as students, then got green cards, or are the children of parents who did -- people who have worked in tech (as I did/do) for some time and have witnessed the influx and now penetration of Asians in tech employment firsthand know it is difficult to overstate the magnitude of it -- in many tech workplaces today, Whites are a small minority -- this happened in little more than a couple of college generations, meaning less than 40 years.

People need to understand two things: 1) the H-1B cap on new visas has been 65k (!) since 1990, and this cap is met (even exceeded due to e.g. special exemptions etc) every year -- summed over all the years since then, that is easily over 1m people who've come to America to work, most of them in high tech; 2) these people are routinely given green cards and then citizenship.

And yes Whites are now either discouraged from entering these tech fields or crowded out; once Asians achieve critical mass in a company, they tend to hire their own, and this is reflected in the workforce -- also once the H-1B surge began, companies used it to displace older, more expensive and mostly white workers: it was unmistakably a vehicle for age discrimination -- but since in both cases Whites were and are the victims, the EEOC takes no notice or interest.

African Americans are overrepresented in the federal government, which was one of the first sectors to integrate. Just over 20 percent of the black workforce is employed by federal, state and local governments.

Here's how much of each US state's workforce is employed by the government

20% is significantly more than the average for government employment in most states -- I have no doubt Blacks are overrepresented in government employment pretty much everywhere.

Chinese-American for decades the richest group in American that could be identified as a group. today the rating Japanese-Americans # 1, Indian-American #2 and Chinese-American # 3.

Recent immigrants from Africa too make more money that the average whitey American.
