David in TN: The perp was a Usual Suspect. He was killed after opening fire with a submachine gun.

Something I would add:
The scenario is very different from the Ashli Babbitt killing. Neither she (nor anybody) pulled out a submachine gun and opened fire.
Small children in the civilian car too. The bad guy did not give a damn about anyone. Those cops a miracle they survived. The bad guy thankfully got his due. A really bad guy a threat to anyone.
