John Rocker Reads VDARE! Ballplayer-Turned-Columnist Argues That Another Mass Amnesty Will Make America California Writ Large—Another Failed State; All of His Arguments Came from VDARE!

Posted by Nicholas Stix

As a VDARE reader since 2000, and a contributor since 2004, I am just pleased as punch for Peter Brimelow and the gang. As Peter would say, you know you’re making an impression, when people use your arguments without attributing them to you.

Personally, I’m on the vain side, so I like to get credit for my work. So, when WND’s Joe Farah publishes work by one of my longtime readers on black-on-white crime, who started writing on the topic over 20 years after me, yet claims that he is the biggest writer on the topic, I don’t feel very charitable.

But WND has hundreds of thousands of readers; therefore, VDARE has (as do I) hundreds of thousands of additional “bastard-readers,” who don’t know who their real journalistic fathers are.

It’s a funny old world.

Amnesty: Turning U.S. into California
Exclusive: John Rocker warns of 'treason from within' if GOP OK's immigration deal

America is not a “policy” – and while we are a nation founded on a set of ideals, a nation we must remain in some real sense of the word.

America has to make sense, it has to have a unifying theme, and it has to have a population that can handle the responsibilities that accompany living in a “free” nation.

Which brings us to the debate over President Obama’s attempt to implement amnesty for who-knows-how-many illegal aliens in America.

Why do some supposed conservatives support amnesty?

Maybe Marco Rubio thinks it will help him break the vaunted 40 percent mark with Hispanics and propel him to the Oval Office in 2016.

Perhaps John Boehner and the GOP elites want to push through the issue so they can worry about important things like media respectability and getting the best spray tan deal off Groupon.

While Beltway wonks, establishment hacks and political opportunists will cite every study to show how immigrants are the natural ally to conservatives, they’ll blatantly ignore the cold harsh reality set before them: If the polls are to be believed, young immigrants who have assimilated are even more likely than their parents to support big government, abortion and gay marriage.

So insofar as they assimilate, it’s into the culture of entitlement and cultural permissiveness promoted by the left and left-leaning institutions. Perhaps this is why Time magazine put Sen. Rubio on its cover and called him the “Savior of the GOP” – when in reality it should have said, “The Man who will merge the DNC with the GOP.”

Is this what we have to look forward to?

Look no further than the former dreamland of California in 2013 to see what will happen to the rest of the nation if amnesty passes and a “path to citizenship” for 10–20 million (who knows the exact number – it could easily be 30 million) illegal immigrants makes them all Americans.

The common catcall of the left, the GOP establishment and the various often taxpayer-funded ethnic lobbies is always, “Well, this is the only feasible solution” – when they talk about amnesty.

But guess what?

Prop. 187 worked in California.

SB 1070 works in Arizona.

HB 56 works in Alabama.

This is why the left and activists judges demonize these states, because passing laws – that are incredibly popular with the actual American voters – works to deter illegal immigration via a form of enforcement through attrition.

Back in 1994, the voters of California decided something needed to be done to stop illegal immigration, since the federal government was failing to protect the integrity of the border. So they passed Proposition 187, which was part of the aptly named Save Our State (SOS) initiative.

Incredibly, 78 percent of Republicans, 62 percent of Independents and 36 percent of Democrats helped approve Prop. 187, which passed with 59 percent of vote.
Indeed, the citizens of California decided to send an SOS to the rest of America when it came to actual problems and costs of allowing illegal immigration to remain an unattended problem.

It passed because taxpaying citizens of California were tired of footing the bill to pay for public services for the families of illegal aliens. Prop. 187 would have included a state-run citizenship screening system had it been put in place. It would have prohibited illegal aliens from using public education, health care and other social services.

Guess what happened next? Three days after a 59-41 victory for Prop. 187, a federal judge issued a temporary restraining order against the institution of the popular SOS measures. Gov. Pete Wilson appealed the decision, but by 1999 he was out of that position. Then, Democratic Gov. Gray Davis dropped the appeal in the infamously anti-American 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, effectively killing a popular ballot measure.

In reality, it was the death of California.

We can invade entire countries like Iraq and Afghanistan where we are dealing with an incredibly hostile population, but we can’t do anything about illegal immigration in our own country – a problem that has turned places like Compton, Calif., into a war zone and, worse, directly been responsible for the closing of 84 hospitals statewide because illegal immigrants don’t pay their bills.

And we can only watch in horror as activists judges kill popular bills that have passed via the democratic process, like Prop. 187. Now do you understand why so many people attacked Gov. Jan Brewer when she actually defended SB 1070?

So why does the left want amnesty?

Plenty of reasons. They’re not stupid. Much like the labor party in Britain, the left knows amnesty helps them build an unbreakable electoral base for decades to come. They know the majority of these individuals favor their political positions and will be reliant on their programs, and the enlargement of the welfare state, in order to survive.

So whenever I hear conservatives talk about amnesty, I simply point to California.

California, the state which gave us Nixon, Reagan and Orange County, the heartland for conservatism, now resembles something akin to a failed state.

Every year more members of the upper class migrate to surrounding states with less economic barriers, less crime and tax rates that don’t resemble the confiscatory rates in California.

Remember: America tried amnesty back in 1986. And how’d that work out? Yahoo recently reported this:

“The ’86 amnesty transformed the political landscape in California, which swung from red to solidly blue on the strength of newly naturalized Hispanic voters and their citizen children. (As of 2009, about 40 percent of amnesty recipients have become citizens.) And in 2012, 70 percent of Hispanic voters – some of whom were naturalized through amnesty, or are related to people who were – voted for Barack Obama over Mitt Romney, painting a worrisome picture for the Republican Party, which has had trouble making inroads with the fast-growing demographic.”
So the 1986 amnesty basically worked to dispossess one group of Californians, the same people who had worked to create much of the ideological blueprints for the Reagan Revolution, and instead created a one-party leftist state that high-income earners like golfer Phil Mickelson are seeking escape.”

Do members of GOP not understand that they are on the verge of turning all of America into just another failed version of California if they capitulate to amnesty?

The great Roman statesmen Cicero once commented, “A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself.”

The GOP, the conservative movement and the United States of America cannot survive the treason from within, and this is why true conservatives must attack any elected official who joins President Obama’s call for amnesty.

As California goes, so goes the nation … never forget that.

[A big echo to James Fulford!]
