Conservative Review: Watch Rep. McCarthy Give Up on the Conservative Agenda Before Election Night was Even Over

The name Kevin McCarthy brings back fond memories of this guy (1914-2010), may he rest in peace. Unfortunately, we're dealing with...

As the GOP wave was sweeping the country on #ElectionNight, GOP House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy joined Fox News and reminded conservatives of the tough road ahead - keeping Republicans focused on the conservative promises they made during the campaign.

The Republican wave that swept across the country on Tuesday night was the product of the American people fed up with the Obama agenda. Not because there was an army of attractive candidates and well run campaigns.

Yet, in the midst of the wave sweeping across the country, the new House GOP Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy went on Fox News and came across as nothing less than completely tone deaf.

When asked what specifically the Republican majority would do if they gained the Senate, his response was to look at Energy policy (Skip to - 0:09). Yes, he said Energy policy. Then tax reform and education reform. Why those things? Because as he said, they have to “show the American people they can govern.”

The American people didn’t elect Republicans far and wide on Tuesday so that they can push squishy domestic agenda and play nice in Congress.

They elected Republicans to STOP THE OBAMA AGENDA and rein in his lawless executive actions.

They elected Republicans to STOP THE OBAMA AGENDA and rein in his lawless executive actions. Specifically, Obamacare, amnesty, and the widespread growth of government agencies with no accountability to Congress – think IRS, NSA, CDC, etc.

But how about some energy bills? But we knew this was coming, it’s just more soggy white bread.

Worse than that though? The very first thing McCarthy wants to see happen with a GOP majority in the House and Senate? A congressional retreat. (Skip to - 0:52)

Seriously, he said a retreat so that Congress can all get together, hold hands, and come out with a unified stale and flaccid agenda focusing on things like energy, tax reform, and education.

But what about amnesty and Obamacare?

Well, as far as what he would tell the president (Skip to 1:40) regarding executive unconstitutional amnesty is that it’s the “wrong approach.”

If that isn’t bold leadership, I don’t know what is.

And Obamacare? Megyn Kelly pressed him on whether he’d push to repeal it (Skip to 2:09). His answer, “repeal and replace.” He couldn't even give a straight answer. Folks - that isn't a good sign.

And there you have it, more soggy white bread from the tone-deaf House Majority Leader. This is why we said that the days immediately following the election were more important than Election Day itself.

But all hope is not lost. We can do something about it, and we must.

Sign up with us and track members of Congress like Kevin McCarthy. Let’s hold them accountable and not let them get away with platitudes and more soggy white bread. Let’s force them to do the job we sent them to Washington to do in the first place – stop Obama’s destructive agenda and  reinstitute conservative principles in government.

If we all do our part, we have a chance at holding Congress accountable.
