From the first fragmentary reports, the cops arrived to find a male outside waving a bloody knife. They let themselves be stabbed by the suspect. Another cop, described as a 28-year veteran, shot the perp dead.
The two cops who were stabbed are in "critical, but stable condition." They evidently knew they had a "duty to die," rather than defend themselves. The other cop only fired after his two partners had already been stabbed and nearly killed.
Will there still be whining of, "He didn't have to shoot him?"
