About 20 minutes ago, a Cleveland judge set bail for Ariel Castro at $2 million per case, in four cases, for a total of $8 million. Three cases are of kidnapping and rape of Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus, and Michelle Knight, respectively, and one is of the kidnapping of the child that Castro allegedly fathered through the raping Berry.
TV talking heads made much of Castro standing with his head down throughout the bail hearing, but had he stood with his head level, or held high, they would have made just as much of that. Whatever he did, they were going to make a big deal of it. They have time to fill, and must give the impression of having significant things to say.
