Man Acquitted in Trespasser's Death

David in TN
Tears fell from those sitting on each side of the courtroom Thursday afternoon as a not-guilty verdict was read in the second-degree murder trial of Kevin Beeler.

Another story. Knox County, Tennessee is different from Wayne County, Michigan.

My understanding is that in Tennessee you can beat a trespasser to within an inch of his life but cannot kill.

2nd degree murder charges were too much in this case.

From what I read this was probably wanton and reckless behavior, 3rd degree murder charges probably more warranted.

Each state has it's own laws on such stuff.

And the shooter will still faced civil suit charges and probably lose.

Illinois now has concealed carry.

According to the law, in IL, even if someone invades your home and in the middle of the night you go after them with a gun in a darkened house, you become the aggressor under law. YOU are stalking them [the home invader].

Civil suit never filed by his heartbroken Father who only wanted his precious Son back.
