Ferguson = East St. Louis?

East St. Louis. One of the worst places in the world a human could want to live.

Carl Officer the one time Mayor said on national TV that his greatest fear was that some " possum eating fools from the Ozarks would see him on TV and come to East St. Louis to kill him!"

Carl was voted out of office in the next election.

We drove through East St. Louis early on a Sunday morning in August 1965. We had been to a St. Louis Cardinal baseball game the night before.

Sunday morning the streets were deserted.

At this time, Ferguson was probably all white.
