Several years ago in Knox County, Tennessee, outside the Knoxville city limits I believe, one night a man heard someone rummaging around in a tool shed on his property. He believed someone was stealing his possessions.

The homeowner went outside and shot and killed a young man in the shed. The dead man did seem to be taking what didn't belong to him.

The shooter was arrested and tried for murder in the same courthouse where the Knoxville Horror trials took place.

A Knox County jury found him Not Guilty. To the jury, this defendant was sympathetic because he shot someone stealing his property. Although he was acquitted the defendant spent his savings on lawyer's fees.
